Men’s Tennis Edged 5-4 By UW-Whitewater

The Gustavus men’s tennis team dropped a closely contested match 5-4 against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Saturday afternoon in West Bend, Wis. The 20th-ranked Gusties fall to 14-7 overall after dropping their last three contests, while Whitewater improves to 13-6 on the season.

Men’s Golf Places 11th At Emory Spring Invitational

The Gustavus men’s golf team took 11th place out of 17 teams at the 2012 Emory Spring Invitational on Tuesday in Atlanta, Ga. Methodist University won the tournament after shooting 582 (+6), while Ogiethorpe and Transylvania tied for second with identical shot totals of 589 (+13). The Gusties shot 297 in the first round and 310 in the second for a total of 607 (+31).

Men’s And Women’s Track & Field Compete In Carleton Invite

A contingent of the Gustavus men’s and women’s track and field teams participated in the Carleton Alumni Open last Thursday in Northfield, Minn. The women’s team posted a strong showing with seven top-three finishes, while the men collected four top-five places.

The Gustavus Office of Sports Information has named Ross Ring-Jarvi Male Student-Athlete of the Month for March, presented by Thrivent Financial, for his leadership and outstanding play to end his career.

Men’s Tennis Rolls Past St. Norbert And St. Cloud State

The 24th-ranked Gustavus men’s tennis team improved its win streak to eight with a pair of shutouts Saturday in St. Peter, Minn. against St. Norbert College and St. Cloud State University. The Gusties move to 13-4 overall, while St. Norbert falls to 3-8 and St. Cloud State to 13-5.

Men’s Tennis Returns To MIAC Play, Shuts Out Saint Mary’s 9-0

The Gustavus men’s tennis team returned to MIAC action Friday in Winona, Minn. after seven non-league matches and kept its undefeated conference record alive with a 9-0 shutout over Saint Mary’s University. The 24th-ranked Gusties improve to 6-0 in the MIAC and 11-4 overall, while the Cardinals drop to 8-6 overall and 1-2 in league play.

Ben Ceder And Brad Kruckeberg Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships

Gustavus Adolphus College student-athletes Ben Ceder (men’s soccer) and Brad Kruckeberg (football) have been selected to receive postgraduate scholarships from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Ceder and Kruckeberg are among a group of student-athletes across NCAA Divisions I, II and III to receive a $7,500 postgraduate scholarship. Gustavus has had a total of 32 student-athletes receive NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships since football player James Goodwin became the first in 1974.

Bucknell Invitational Cancelled After Six Holes For Women’s Golf

The Gustavus women’s golf team got six holes in today at the Bucknell Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev. before weather conditions forced a cancellation.

Women’s Hockey Set For NCAA Semifinals Against Defending Champ Norwich

ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's hockey team (26-1-1) will host the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Championship with the semifinals on Friday, March 16, and championship/third place games on Saturday, March 17 at Ritter Arena. RIT will host SUNY Plattsburgh (19-6-3) in the first semifinal at 3:30 p.m., while Gustavus Adolphus (24-2-2) will face defending National Champion Norwich (26-2-1) in the second semifinal at 7 p.m. The third placegame will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, with the championship getting underway at 7 p.m.

Men’s Tennis Claims Victories Over UW-Eau Claire and Augustana

The Gustavus men’s tennis team improved its win streak to five with a pair of victories over the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, 9-0, and Augustana College (S.D.), 8-1, Saturday in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties move to 10-4 overall on the season, while UW-Eau Claire falls to 10-3 and Augustana drops to 3-2.
