Gustavus football and baseball player Brice Panning (Jr., Hamburg, Minn.) had an eventful weekend, leading the Gustie football team in receiving Saturday afternoon and then playing in the Minnesota state amateur baseball tournament that night and Sunday.

Five Gusties Named To MIAC Baseball All-Conference Team

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2018 All-Conference Baseball Team on Tuesday and five Gusties were honored with postseason accolades. The Gustavus baseball team played the last game ever at the natural-grass Gustie Baseball Field Saturday, and sent it off in dramatic fashion by upsetting league-leading St. Thomas 5-4 in 13 innings for a doubleheader split. The Gusties dropped the first game 6-5 before the thrilling extra-inning victory to finish the season 21-17 overall and 9-11 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Tommies move to 24-13 overall and 16-4 in the league and may now have to share the regular season title with Bethel, pending the outcome of its doubleheader tomorrow.
