Men’s Hockey Ties Hamline 1-1, Falls In Shootout

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s hockey team tied Hamline University 1-1 Friday night, but dropped a point with a shootout loss at Don Roberts Ice Rink. Although the first two periods went scoreless, both teams scored in the third, ending regulation 1-1, but a shootout goal gave the Pipers the second point in the league standings. The loss brings Gustavus to 6-13-5 overall and 5-7-3 in the conference, while Hamline moves to 8-11-6 overall and 5-8-3 in the league.

Men’s Swim & Dive In Fourth Place After Day One At MIAC Championships

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s swim and dive team is currently in fourth place with 147 points after day one of competition at the MIAC Championships on Thursday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. The Gusties trail by three points behind Carleton and three-and-a-half points behind St. Olaf, while St. Thomas leads with 283.5 points.

Women’s Swim & Dive In Second Place After First Day Of MIAC Championships

The Gustavus Adophus College women’s swim and dive team completed its first day of competition at the MIAC Championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on Thursday evening. The Gusties ended the session with 223 points putting them in second place behind St. Thomas with 226 points. Hayley Booher highlighted the night with a new MIAC record in the 200 IM.

Men’s Hockey Shut Out 3-0 By Bethel

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s hockey team was shutout 3-0 by the Bethel University Royals Saturday night at Bethel University Arena-National Sports Center. Bethel played a consistent game, scoring once each period, leading to its three-point victory. The loss brings Gustavus to 6-13-4 overall and 5-7-2 in the MIAC, while Bethel improves to 3-18-2 overall and 2-12-0 in the league.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first frame, but the Gusties took off, scoring two second period goals, and netted another two in the third, earning a three-goal win over the Royals. The win brings Gustavus to 6-12-4 overall and 5-6-2 in the conference, while Bethel falls to 2-18-2 overall and 1-12-0 in the league.

Women’s Basketball Comeback Effort Falls Short, Defeated 75-67 By No. 11 St. Thomas

The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s basketball team was defeated 75-67 by the University St. Thomas on Wednesday at Gus Young Court. The No. 11 Tommies held the lead for the entirety of the game, but the Gusties fought hard to bring their 12-point deficit to one in the final quarter. However, a 14-7 Tommie run in the final 3:25 along with key free-throw shooting widened their advantage to 13 with 16 seconds to play, and the Gusties eventually suffered the eight-point defeat.

Men’s Hockey Shut Out 3-0 By Concordia

The Gustavus Adolphus College men’s hockey team suffered a 3-0 shutout by Concordia College on Saturday at Don Roberts Ice Rink. While the Gusties fought hard, with both teams going scoreless in the first period, Gustavus allowed three Cobber goals during the remainder of the game. The loss brings the Gusties to 4-11-4 overall and 3-5-2 in the MIAC, while the Cobbers improve to 8-9-2 overall and 6-3-1 in the league.
