Women’s Basketball Secures MIAC Playoff Berth With 72-37 Win Over Saint Mary’s
The Gustavus women's basketball team capitalized on 30 Saint Mary's turnovers to post a 72-37 victory over the Cardinals Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. Jess Vadnais and Bri Monahan each scored 18 points to lead the Gusties, who improve to 14-5 overall and 12-4 in the MIAC. Gustavus, which secured a berth in the MIAC Playoffs, will face Bethel Monday night in Arden Hills.
Men’s Tennis Falls to UH Rainbow Warriors 6-1
The Gustavus men's tennis team fell to 1-2 on the season with a 6-1 loss to NCAA Division I University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors Saturday in Honolulu. The Gusties won only two of nine matches, with John Kauss picking up the lone point with a win at #6 singles. Gustavus will host Minnesota State Mankato (9 a.m.) and Bethel (6 p.m.) next Saturday.
Women’s Hockey Rallies to Beat Williams 3-2
The Gustavus women's hockey team wrapped up its challenging East Coast trip with a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Williams College on Saturday evening. The game was played at Middlebury College in Vermont. Kelly Crandall tied the score at 2-2 with goal at 12:51 of the third and then Molly Doyle scored the gamewinner at 14:08 mark.
Bethel Completes Sweep of Men’s Hockey 6-2
The Gustavus men's hockey team put the first goal on the board, but allowed four straight goals as Bethel completed a weekend sweep with a 6-2 win at Columbia Arena in Fridley. Steven Jensen and Mike Hosfield scored for the Gusties, who have lost three of their last four. Gustavus will face St. Thomas in a weekend series beginning Friday in Mendota Heights.
Men’s Basketball Claims Convincing 82-42 Win Over Saint Mary’s
The Gustavus men's basketball team jumped out to an 11-0 lead and never looked back on its way to a decisive 82-42 win over Saint Mary's in St. Peter on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties, who put a stop to a two-game losing streak, were led by Phil Sowden with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Women’s Gymnastics Team Finishes Third at Gershon Invitational
The Gustavus women's gymnastics team finished third out of four teams at the Gershon Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. The Gusties posted a season high team score of 172.00 which included a season vault total of 45.70.
Men’s Hockey Downed by Bethel 4-1
The Gustavus men's hockey team fell to Bethel University 4-1 Friday night in St. Peter. The Royals scored just 2:17 into the game to take a lead they would not relinquish. Gustavus falls to 12-5-1 overall, 7-2-0 in the MIAC. The teams will meet again Saturday evening at Columbia Arena in Fridley.
Women’s Hockey Loses to #1 Middlebury 3-0
The Gustavus women's hockey team lost 3-0 to top ranked Middlebury on Friday afternoon in Middlebury, Vermont. The Gusties outshot the Panthers 26-20, but Middlebury scored a goal in each period to claim the victory. Gustavus is now 14-3-1 overall.
Men’s Tennis Opens Spring Season With 8-1 Win Over Division II Hawai’i-Hilo
The Gustavus men's tennis team opened its 2006 spring season Thursday evening with an 8-1 win over NCAA Division II Hawai'i-Hilo in Honolulu, Hawai'i. The Gusties (1-0) continue their swing through Hawai'i Friday against Brigham Young University-Hawaii and Saturday against Division I University of Hawai'i-Manoa before returning to Minnesota.
Women’s Hockey Falls to Plattsburgh State 3-2 in Battle of National Powers
The Gustavus women's hockey team suffered a disappointing 3-2 loss to #2 Plattsburgh State in Plattsburgh, New York on Thursday night. The Gusties scored two goals in the first two minutes of the game, but could not hold on to the lead as the Cardinals rallied for the one-goal victory. Molly Doyle and Jessica Doig scored for Gustavus.
