Women’s Basketball Surges Past St. Olaf 75-50

The Gustavus women's basketball team kept its hopes for a first-round bye in the MIAC Playoffs alive Wednesday night with a 75-50 win over St. Olaf in Northfield. Bri Monahan scored 19 to lead the Gusties, followed closely by Jess Vadnais with 18. Gustavus (16-5, 14-4 MIAC) returns home Saturday hosting Augsburg in another MIAC tilt.

2006 Women’s Tennis Preview

The Gustavus women's tennis team returns all but one player from a team that posted a record of 30-3 in 2005 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Team Championship. Coach Jon Carlson returns a squad which features All-Americans Tara Houlihan, Lyndsey Palen, Lauren Hom, Marla Menne, and Jaime Gaard and the team has hopes of winning a conference title and advancing to the NCAA Championships once again.

2006 Men’s Tennis Preview

The Gustavus men's tennis team will be competing for its 18th consecutive Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team title this spring. The Gusties have claimed 31 MIAC team titles during current head coach Steve Wilkinson's 34 years at Gustavus.

Indoor Track and Field Competes at MSU Open

The Gustavus indoor track and field team posted a pair of school records while competing in the MSU Open Saturday in Mankato. Sari Lindeman set a new mark in the triple jump with a distance of 36 feet, 5 3/4 inches, while Jered Hokenson cleared 6 feet, 5 inches during the high jump portion of the indoor pentathlon competition.

Women’s Basketball Escapes With 73-71 Victory at Bethel

Bri Monahan scored 26 points and Jess Vadnais added another 20 as the Gustavus women's basketball team posted a 73-71 win over Bethel Monday night in Arden Hills. The Gusties improve to 15-5 overall, 13-4 in the MIAC with the victory and locked down at least a first-round home game in the MIAC Playoffs.

Men’s Basketball Defeats Bethel 85-75

The Gustavus men's basketball team remained in a third place tie in the MIAC with an important 85-75 win at Bethel on Monday night. Adam TeBrake and Phil Sowden led the Gusties with 25 and 23 points, respectively.

Women’s Swimming and Diving Competes at Minnesota Challenge

The relay of team of Krista Koenen, Emily Degnan, Emma Espel and Laura Watkins opened the Minnesota Challenge with a third-place in the 200 freestyle relay and wrapped it up with a runner-up finish in the 400 freestyle relay to lead the Gustavus women's swimming and diving contingent at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center last weekend.

Men’s Swimming and Diving Performs Well in Relays at Minnesota Challenge

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team, concentrating its efforts in the relays, registered a total of 19 top-eight relay finishes at last weekend's Minnesota Challenge at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. The Gusties won three of five relays and finished second in four with either their first or second team.

Bethel Completes Sweep of Men’s Hockey 6-2

The Gustavus men's hockey team put the first goal on the board, but allowed four straight goals as Bethel completed a weekend sweep with a 6-2 win at Columbia Arena in Fridley. Steven Jensen and Mike Hosfield scored for the Gusties, who have lost three of their last four. Gustavus will face St. Thomas in a weekend series beginning Friday in Mendota Heights.

Women’s Hockey Rallies to Beat Williams 3-2

The Gustavus women's hockey team wrapped up its challenging East Coast trip with a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Williams College on Saturday evening. The game was played at Middlebury College in Vermont. Kelly Crandall tied the score at 2-2 with goal at 12:51 of the third and then Molly Doyle scored the gamewinner at 14:08 mark.
