Men’s Tennis Opens Spring Season With 8-1 Win Over Division II Hawai’i-Hilo Posted on February 3rd, 2006 by

The Gustavus men’s tennis team opened its 2006 spring season Thursday evening with an 8-1 win over NCAA Division II University of Hawai’i-Hilo in Honolulu, Hawai’i.

Loren Collins (Sr., Dallas, Texas) and Jesse Brauer (Jr., Mankato, Minn.) paired for a win at #3 doubles and then picked up wins at #1 singles and #3 singles, respectively. Roy Bryan (Sr., Edina, Minn.) teamed with brother Andy Bryan (So., Edina, Minn.) to win at #2 doubles and then picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at #4 singles. Adam Morgan (Sr., Barrington, Ill.) was also a double winner for the Gusties, teaming with Brett Morse-Karzen (Sr., Wilmette, Ill.) to win at #1 doubles before capturing a win a #2 singles.

The lone win for the Vulcans came at #5 singles when Patrick Sosnowski defeated Morse-Karzen 6-3, 6-4.

The Gusties (1-0) continue their swing through Hawai’i Friday against Brigham Young University-Hawai’i and Saturday against Division I University of Hawai’i-Manoa before returning to Minnesota.
