Taylor Rooney Named MIAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

For the second week in a row Taylor Rooney of Gustavus men's track and field was named MIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Rooney tied his Division-III leading time of 8.03 in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles at the St. Olaf Quad on Saturday. He then went on to win the finals with a time of 8.12 while also being a member of the 4x200 relay team that placed first with a time of 1:33.60.

Track and Field 2020 Indoor Season Preview

The Gustavus track and field teams will be back in action for their second meet of the season Friday as they travel to Northfield for the St. Olaf Quad. The meet is set to begin at the Tostrud Center at 4 p.m.

Taylor Rooney kicked off 2020 winning the 60m hurdles in the MSU-Invite and earning USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week Honors with a time of 8.10.

The Gustavus men's and women's track and field teams opened up their 2020 season on Sunday afternoon in Mankato at the MSU-Invite. The men finished the seven team meet in third place while the women finished fifth.

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Men’s and Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday and Gustavus earned three honors. Taylor Rooney (Jr., Andover) and Tierney Winter (Sr., Waterville) were named Men's and Women's Track Athletes of the Week, while Steven Orzolek (So., Darwin) was named Men's Field Athlete of the Week.

Eight Gusties Compete at Chuck Petersen Open

A small group of the Gustavus men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams kicked off the indoor season Saturday at the Chuck Peterson Open & Multi, hosted by Minnesota State-Mankato. Three athletes on the men’s team and five from the women’s squad competed on Saturday with six Gusties setting lifetime bests, four winning their event, and two breaking school records.

Hensch Earns All-America in Shot Put, Rooney Takes 11th in 110 Hurdles

Gustavus thrower Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) earned his second All-America honor in as many days, taking seventh place in the shot put at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday. Hensch’s second throw of 54-01.75 (16.50m) in the second flight was his best toss of the event.

Three Gusties Set to Compete at NCAA Outdoor Championships

Three members from the Gustavus track & field teams will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on May 23-25 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) and Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) will represent the Gustie men, while Katie Keelin (Jr., Burnsville, Minn.) will represent the women.

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its men’s track & field postseason awards Thursday and three Gustavus student-athletes received recognition. Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) was named Outstanding Field Athlete after winning the grand slam of throwing events, while Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) and Andrew Stumbo (So., Boone, Iowa) earned All-Conference as well.
