Men’s Track & Field Takes Third at MIAC Outdoor Championships

The Gustavus men’s track & field team took third place at the 2019 MIAC Outdoor Championships, totaling 98 points. On day two of the meet, the Gusties garnered three event champions, highlighted by Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) completing the grand slam of throwing events.

Men’s Track & Field in Second After Day One of MIAC Championships

The Gustavus men’s track & field team sits in second place with 43 points after seven events scored Friday at the MIAC Outdoor Championships, hosted by the University of St. Thomas. The Gusties earned two conference titles, broke two MIAC meet records, while four more advanced to the finals Saturday.

Men’s Track & Field Competes at MSU Twilight

The Gustavus men’s track & field team competed in the MSU-Mankato Twilight on Saturday. Eamonn McCullough (Fy., Waverly, Iowa) , Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.), and Bridger Pavelka (Jr., Minnetonka, Minn.) each placed first in their respective events to lead the team. The Gusties had eight more top-five performances.

Men’s Track & Field Wins Eight Events at Drake Alternative

The Gustavus men’s track & field team hosted the Drake Alternative on Friday for its only home meet of the season. Five Gusties captured six first-place finishes – Bridger Pavelka (Jr., Minnetonka, Minn.) in the 1500 meters, Nick Kerbeshian (So., Plymouth, Minn.) in the 5K, Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) in the 110 hurdles, Alex Wischnack (Sr., Norwood, Minn.) in the 3000-meter steeplechase, and Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) in both the shot put and hammer throw.

Hensch, Rooney Named MIAC Men’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Men’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday and Gustavus earned a couple honors. Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) was named Track Athlete of the Week and Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) was selected as the Field Athlete of the Week.

Hensch, Rooney Have Record-Setting Performances at Carleton Relays

The Gustavus men’s track & field team Saturday took second the Carleton Relays with 165 points, 34 shy of first place Minnesota-Duluth (Division II).  Michael Hensch (Sr., North Branch, Minn.) and Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) both had breaking-setting performances.

Men’s Track & Field Takes Home Five First-Place Finishes at Mustang Open

The Gustavus men’s track & field team competed at the Mustang Open at Mount Mercy University on Saturday as a full team for the first time this outdoor season. Andrew Stumbo, Taylor Rooney, Alex Wischnack, and Michael Hensch all led the Gusties with first place finishes in their respective events.

A small contingent of the Gustavus men’s and women’s track & field teams competed at the Hamline Invitational on Saturday. The highlight of the meet was Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) setting the meet record in the 110-meter hurdles.

Rooney, Webster Named February Athletes of the Month

Men’s track and field student-athlete Taylor Rooney (So., Andover, Minn.) and women's swimmer Maggie Webster (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College February Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Month, presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.
