Men’s Cross Country Will Race in MIAC Championships Saturday
The Gustavus men's cross country team will take part in the MIAC Championships on Saturday at 3 pm at Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul, Minn. The Gusties will be looking to improve on their eighth place finish from a year ago. The 2007 Gustavus men's cross country team looks to improve on its eighth place finish at the conference championships in 2006. Senior Chris deLaubenfels earned all-conference honors a year ago with a 14th place finish.
Men’s Cross Country Turns In 17th-Place Finish at Jim Drews Invitational
The Gustavus men's cross country team turned in a 17th-place finish with 459 points at the 25-team Jim Drews Invitational Saturday morning in La Crosse, Wis. UW-La Crosse won the team competition with 75 points and all five runners finishing in the top 20. Senior Chris deLaubenfels (Mount Vernon, Iowa) beat his best time of the season by 30 seconds with a time of 26:38 and a 45th place-finish.
deLaubenfels Finishes Second at MSU-Mankato Open
Cross country runner Chris deLaubenfels (Mount Vernon, Iowa) turned in his best finish of the season finishing second in 20:28 at the MSU-Mankato Open in Mankato Saturday. No team scores were kept as Gustavus, MSU-Mankato, and St. Cloud State were the only schools competing in the 6K race. John Leaf was the second Gustie to cross the finish in 12th-place with a time of 21:14. Five Gustavus runners competed in the race.
Men’s Cross Country Finishes Fourth at Bison Open
The Gustavus men's cross country team placed fourth out of five teams at the North Dakota State University (NDSU) Bison Open. The Gusties posted a team total of 90 points which was 47 points behind first place finishers South Dakota State University and Minnesota State University, Moorhead (43). Junior Dan Foley (Minneapolis, Minn.) turned in a 10th-place finish with a time of 21:34.10 in the 6,000 meter race.
Chris deLaubenfels, Men’s Cross Country Team Honored by USTFCCCA
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently released its All-Academic Cross Country teams for the 2006 season and junior Chris deLaubenfels (Mount Vernon, Iowa) and the entire Gustavus team were honored for their scholastic accomplishments.
Harren, Zupan Named NCAA Post-Graduate Scholars
Gustavus Adolphus College student athletes Hailey Harren (women's cross country) and Alex Zupan (men's cross country) have been selected as two of 58 student-athletes from across the country to receive a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for the fall sport season. Harren and Zupan were the only student-athletes from a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference institution selected to receive the $7,500 award this fall.

The Gustavus men's cross country team finished eighth out of 12 teams at the MIAC Championships which were held Saturday afternoon at Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul, Minn. The Gusties were led by junior Chris deLaubenfels, who placed 14th and sophomore Dan Foley, who finished 17th.

Men’s Cross Country Finishes 19th at Jim Drews Invitational
The Gustavus men's cross country team finished 19th out of 31 at the Jim Drews Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. Dan Foley paced the Gusties with an 83rd place finish in a time of 26:18 over the 8,000 meter course.
Men’s Cross Country Team Performs Well at the Dan Huston Invitational at Wartburg
The Gustavus men's cross-country team participated in the Dan Huston Invitational hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday. The Huston Invitational is a unique meet in that there are two separate races offered, one was a four kilometer race (2.48 miles) and the other was a 8 kilometer race (4.97 miles). The Gusties finished 12th (out of 12) in the 4km race and 5th (out of 10) in the 8 km race.
