The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently released its All-Academic Cross Country teams for the 2006 season and junior Chris deLaubenfels (Mount Vernon, Iowa) and the entire Gustavus team were honored for their scholastic accomplishments.

Individually, deLaubenfels, was honored by virtue of having a cumulative grade point average over 3.5 and finishing in the top 25% of the runners at the region meet. A 2006 all-conference performer, deLaubenfels has compiled a 3.67 grade point average with majors in political science and philosophy. He finished 41st (out of 164) to help the Gusties post a strong eighth place finish (out of 23 teams) at the NCAA Central Region meet this past November.

As a team, the Gusties compiled a 3.457 grade point average which was second best among the seven MIAC teams to be recognized. Macalester compiled the top team gpa amongst the MIAC schools with 3.53 grade point average.
