Booher, Saenz Named February Student-Athletes-Of-The-Month
Junior women's swimmer Hayley Booher (Warren, Vt.) and senior men’s tennis player Andres Saenz (Cancun, Mexico) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College February Female and Male Student-Athletes-of-the-Month, presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.
Gary Cooper Named Men’s Basketball All-Conference
The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its men’s basketball awards Tuesday and Gustavus received one All-Conference performer and two Honorable Mentions. Gary Cooper (Sr., Detroit, Mich.) was named to the All-Conference Team, while Chris Narum (Sr., Eagan, Minn.) and Brody Ziegler (Sr., Mankato, Minn.) are Honorable Mention.
Michaela Schulz Earns MIAC Women’s Tennis Athlete Of The Week Honors
The Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis team had a very busy - and very productive - day on Saturday, with three matches and three MIAC wins, all by 9-0 scores. Junior Michaela Schulz (Elk River, Minn.) played a huge role in two of the three victories, as she went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles for the Gusties in wins over Bethel and Hamline. For her performance, the MIAC sports information directors honored Schulz Tuesday with the MIAC Women's Tennis Athlete-of-the-Week award.
Sam Ardy Named WIAC Specialist Of The Week
Sam Ardy (Fy., Thousand Oaks, Calif.) scored career highs on the uneven bars and vault helping Gustavus to a third-place finish at the Best of Minnesota and season high scores. For her performance, Ardy has been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Gymnastics Specialist of the Week.
Annis Records Win No. 300 As Softball Defeats UW-Stevens Point 9-1
Sunday was a milestone day for the Gustavus softball team as Head Coach Jeff Annis claimed his 300th all-time victory in a season-opening 9-1 win against UW-Stevens Point at the Rochester Regional Bubble. The Gusties then faced UW-River Falls and won 11-4. Now in his 11th season at Gustavus, Annis holds an overall record of 301-122-1 and is the winningest coach in program history.
Women’s Tennis Completes MIAC Trifecta, Sweeps Bethel, Concordia, & Hamline
Fresh off a two week hiatus from competition, the Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis team swept a trio of conference opponents on Saturday, taking down Bethel University and Concordia College 9-0 at the Swanson Tennis Center, and defeating Hamline University 9-0 at the Baseline Tennis Center on the University of Minnesota campus. The wins moved the Gusties to 4-2 overall and a perfect 3-0 in the MIAC.
Men’s Tennis Earns Trio Of Sweeps Against Bethel, Concordia, & Morningside
The Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team earned three victories on Saturday at the Swanson Tennis Center, two of which came in MIAC action. The Gusties took down Bethel, Concordia, and Morningside, all by scores of 9-0 to move to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the conference.
Gymnastics Sets Two Event Records At Best Of Minnesota, Scores 184.3
The regular season for the Gustavus gymnastics team ended on a high note Saturday, as it tallied the second best team score in program history at the Best of Minnesota Meet, hosted by the University of Minnesota. The Gusties tied for third place out of four teams with a season-high score of 184.300. The host Gophers took first with a score of 196.200, while Winona State took second at 184.825, and Hamline tied the Gusties at 184.300.
Men’s Track & Field Takes Third At Kilt Classic
The Gustavus men’s track & field team took third out of five teams at the Macalester Kilt Classic on Friday night. The Gusties tallied 96 points, while Hamline took first with 159 points and Bethel took second with 101.
Women’s Track & Field Takes Second At Kilt Classic
The Gustavus women’s track & field team took second out of six teams at the Macalester Kilt Classic on Friday night. The Gusties tallied 119 points, while Bethel took first place with 128.5 points.
