Carl Stenoien And Matt Leeb Earn Academic All-District Honors Posted on June 3rd, 2011 by

Gustavus Adolphus senior track and field athletes Carl Stenoien (Underwood, Minn.) and Matt Leeb (Kasota, Minn.) have both earned a spot on the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Five Second Team. Stenoien is a Biology and Pre-Medicine major with a 3.91 GAC, while Leeb is an Economics major with a 3.73 GPA.

The two seniors helped the Gustavus men’s outdoor track and field team to a strong third place finish at the MIAC Championships this season.  Stenoien took home bronze in the decathlon with a score of 5674, while placing seventh in the pole vault and eighth in the long jump.  Leeb finished runner-up in the 400-meter dash and fourth in the 200-meter.  He also contributed to the second place finish of the 4×100-meter relay and was a member of the fourth place 4×400-meter relay team.

The 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the floor and in the classroom.

The Academic All‐District are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The University Division team includes NCAA Division I participants, while the College Division team combines NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Canadian and two‐year schools.
