One weekend after winning its third straight MIAC Championship, the Gustavus Adolphus women’s golf team traveled to Huntley, Ill. to take part in the highly-competitive 26th Annual Huskie Classic held at Whisper Creek Golf Club on Oct. 10-11. The Gusties turned in a two-day team score of 642 (323-319) to finish in seventh place out of 12 teams. Senior Katie Schenfeld followed up her Individual Medalist performance at the 2010 MIAC Championship with another outstanding weekend, finishing in a three-way tie for third place with a 76-76-152 (+8).
Individually, Rikka Holiday was the highest Gustavus finisher behind Schenfeld. Holiday recorded an 83-77-160 (+16) to finish in 27th. Taylor Drenttel added a 33rd place finish after shooting an 81-80-161 (+17). Rounding out the Gustavus squad was Kayleigh Dittes in 51st (83-86-169) and Ann Jackson in 57th (83-88-171).
Brown University won the tournament after shooting a 315-296-611 (+35). The top three also included Northern Illinois and Chicago State in second (614) and third place (621), respectively.
Brown University’s Carly Arison won the tournament after firing a 75-75-150 (+6). She edged out Northern Illinois’s Michelle Caporusso by one stroke to take the crown. Caporusso finished second with a 73-78-151 (+7). Joining Schenfeld on the podium in third place was April Ohlendorf and Ann Vdolyak of Loyola University. Ohlendorf shot a 75-77 and Vdolyak shot a 78-74.
