Gustavus Finishes 30th in Learfield Directors’ Cup Division III Standings

The final standings for the 2022-23 Learfield Directors’ Cup in NCAA Division III were released Tuesday and Gustavus finished in 30th place out of 323 qualified institutions. Gustavus had eight teams compete in the NCAA postseason, accumulating 520.5 points in the Directors’ Cup.

Gustavus Women’s Athletics Wins MIAC All-Sports Title, Men Finish Second

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced the winners of the Men’s and Women’s All-Sports Competitions on Wednesday and Gustavus won the Pat Wiesner Trophy for women’s sports, while the Gustie men took second place in the running for the George Durenberger Trophy.

Banse Caps off National Athletic Training Month with National Championship, State-Wide Recognition

Head Athletic Trainer Troy Banse received the MATA award for outstanding work by a Minnesota Athletic Trainer just a week after being a part of the women's hockey team's national championship game. Stef Arndt, a 2006 Gustie alum, represented the Badgers' women's hockey team the same day, taking home a national title of her own.

The winter standings for the 2022-23 Learfield Directors’ Cup in NCAA Division III were released Thursday and Gustavus sits in 23rd place out of 274 qualified institutions.

Willie Lindquist, the longtime equipment manager of Gustavus Athletics, passed away on Sunday, March 26 at the age of 90.

Gustavus and River Falls Set to Meet in NCAA Quarterfinal

Following their MIAC Championship victory, the Gustavus women's hockey team (24-3) is set to host UW-River Falls (23-3-1) in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championships at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Gusties and Falcons both earned a bye to the second round of the tournament, to be hosted at Don Roberts Ice Rink. Tournament play begins Wednesday night, with six teams competing for a chance at the quarterfinal, with the winners facing Amherst, Adrian, or SUNY-Plattsburgh on Saturday. Those victorious in round two will head to the Frozen Four, to be hosted by the highest remaining seed of the four teams. 

Olson Named MIAC Women’s Hockey Player of the Week

Emily Olson helped the Gusties to a perfect MIAC weekend, contributing on four of the Gusties five goals on Friday. Olson tallied three assists and a goal Friday night to give the Gusties a 5-2 win over Saint Benedict. With her three assists, Olson now has 12 on the season to pace the Gusties. Olson's power play goal added to the Gusties' national lead, which improved to 25 over the weekend. For her performance, Olson was named MIAC Women’s Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.

Men’s Tennis Boasts Numerous Nationally, Regionally Ranked Singles and Doubles

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently released its Division III Men's ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings and a number of Gustavus student-athletes were recognized as both regionally and nationally ranked in singles and doubles.

Gusties’ Season Ends in NCAA Regional Semifinal to UW-Whitewater

The Gusties' post-season run came to a close Friday night, falling to UW-Whitewater in the NCAA Regional Semifinal, 3-1. The Gusties finish their season with an overall record of 26-5.

Cross Country Competes at Saint John’s Fall Finale

The men's and women's cross country teams took to Collegeville, Minn. Friday night to compete in the Saint John's Fall Finale. The Gusties competed against athletes from Saint John's and Saint Benedict, posting five top-15 finishes.
