Women’s Golf Continues Winning Ways With First Place Finish at Midwest Collegiate Invitational

The Gustavus women's golf team continued its fine play this fall with a first place finish out of 15 teams at the Division III Midwest Classic hosted by Carleton College at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake, Minn. The Gusties, who posted a team score of 318-334--652, finished 31 strokes ahead of second place UW-Eau Claire at 356-327--683. Gustavus was led individually by Katie Schenfeld, who tied for second at 78-80--158.

Kosak’s 76 Helps Gustavus Women’s Golf To First Round Lead at the Midwest Classic

Kimbra Kosak continued her fine play in the fall season firing a 18-hole total of 76 on a cool and rainy day at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake, Minn. Kosak's round helped the Gusties fired an impressive team score of 318, which was 25 shots better than second place University of St. Thomas.

The Gustavus women's golf team won its second tournament title of the fall season with a convincing first place finish at the 17-team Wartburg Invitational which was played at Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly, Iowa. The Gusties, who fired a team total of 324-309--633, were led by Kimbra Kosak who finished second individually at 78-78--156.

Kali Griggs Named MIAC Women’s Golfer of the Week

Gustavus student athlete Kali Griggs has been named MIAC Women's Golfer of the Week for her efforts in helping the Gusties win the 20-team UW-Eau Claire Invitational last weekend. Griggs, a junior from Burnsville, Minn., finished fourth individually with a 36-hole total of 80-79--159.

Women’s Golf Opens Season With First Place Finish At UW-Eau Claire Invitational

The Gustavus women's golf team rallied on the second day to win the UW-Eau Claire Invitational by one stroke over Wartburg College. The Gusties posted a 36-hole team score of 314-332--646 and edged Wartburg by one stroke as the Knights posted a total of 313-334--647. Gustavus was led individually by Kali Griggs who finished fourth with a total of 80-79--159.

Kimbra Kosak and Rachel Roberg Named NGCA All-American Scholars

The National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team was recently announced with a total of 56 Division III women's collegiate golfers, including Kimbra Kosak and Rachel Roberg of Gustavus, recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team includes a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.

Women’s Golf Coach Scott Moe Named National Coach of the Year

Gustavus Adolphus College women's golf coach Scott Moe has been named the Division III National Coach of the Year by the National Golf Coaches Association. Moe guided the Gusties to a sixth place finish at the NCAA Championships in Waverly, Iowa. This is the second time that he has been honored as the National Coach of the Year, as he was named the men's golf National Coach of the Year in 2004.

Women’s Golf Finishes Sixth At NCAA Championships, Kosak Finishes Tied For Sixth Individually

The Gustavus women's golf team posted a solid final round score of 316 (+28) to finish sixth at the NCAA Championships out of 20 teams. The 72-hole tournament, was played at Centennial Oaks Golf Course in Waverly, Iowa. The Gusties made up 13 strokes to move up two places and finish one stroke ahead of St. Thomas. Junior Kimbra Kosak (Grand Rapids, Minn.) wrapped up a very strong tournament with a final round score of 75 (+3).

Roberg, Griggs, and Kosak Honored By National Golf Coaches Association

The National Golf Coaches Association announced its 2007-08 awards at the recent NCAA Division III Championships and three Gustavus golfers were honored by the NGCA. Rachel Roberg received First Team All-America honors, while Kali Griggs received Second Team All-America honors and Kimbra Kosak received honorable mention All-America honors. In addition, Roberg, Griggs, and Kosak were named to the Midwest All-Region team.

Women’s Golf Tied For Eighth Place After Third Day At NCAA Championships

The Gustavus women's golf team dropped into a tie for eighth place at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships on Thursday at Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly, Iowa after shooting a team score of 322. The Gusties have a three-day total of 323-323-322--968. First place Methodist University is 27 strokes ahead of the second place team with scores of 307-309-299--915.
