Women’s Golf Continues Winning Ways With First Place Finish at Midwest Collegiate Invitational Posted on September 14th, 2008 by

The Gustavus women’s golf team continued its fine play this fall with a first place finish out of 15 teams at the Division III Midwest Classic hosted by Carleton College at Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake, Minn. The Gusties, who posted a team score of 318-334–652, finished 31 strokes ahead of second place UW-Eau Claire at 356-327–683. Gustavus was led individually by Katie Schenfeld, who tied for second at 78-80–158.

Three Gustavus players finished in the top ten individually including Schenfeld, Kimbra Kosak, who placed fourth at 76-85–161, and Kali Griggs, who tied for seventh at 83-82–165. Others scoring for Gustavus included Taylor Drenttel, who tied for 12th at 81-88–169, and Amanda Woodhull, who tied for 15th at 83-87–170.

Four Gustavus players participated as individuals and that group included Lauren Runsvold (85-84–169, 12th tie), Annie Jackson (92-86–178, 30th tie), and Rikka Holiday (90-91–181, 42nd).

The Gusties, who are currently ranked #3 in the NCGA Division III poll, have now won all three tournaments they have competed in this fall. Gustavus will take part in the Mustang Invitational hosted by Southwest Minnesota State University at the Marshall Golf Club this Saturday and Sunday.
