Men’s Golf Struggles On First Day Of Augsburg Invitational

The Gustavus men's golf team got off to a rough start on the first day of the Augsburg Invitational shooting a team score of 36 which places them 11th out of 15 teams in the tournament. A.J. Olson led Gustavus with a 76. The tournament wraps up on Sunday.

Men’s Golf Team Named Academic National Champions by Golf Coaches Association of America

The Gustavus men's golf team has been selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America as the Academic National Champions for Division III. Coach Scott Moe's 2008-09 squad was the only team in Division III to post a cumulative team grade point average above 3.50. This is the first year that the GCAA has honored teams for their academic standing.

A.J. Olson Named GCAA All-America Scholar

Gustavus Adolphus College men's golfer A.J. Olson (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.) has been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar for his play on the links as well as his work in the classroom. Olson ranked second on the team with a 78.0 scoring average during the 2008-09 season.

Alex Woodhull Named MIAC Golfer of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College junior Alex Woodhull (Hopkins, Minn./Minnetonka) fired a one-under par 70 to win his first collegiate tournament at the Saint John's Invitational held Saturday at Monticello Country Club. Woodhull was awarded medalist honors by virtue of a tiebreaker. As a team, Gustavus finished fourth out of 17 teams.

Men’s Golf Black Team Finishes Fourth, Gold Team Sixth at Rain-Shortened Saint John’s Invitational

The Gustavus men's golf program entered two teams in the Saint John's Invitational last weekend and the Black Team finished fourth with a score of 306, while the Gold team finished in a tie for sixth with a total of 308. Host Saint John's won the 17-team tournament, which was played at Monticello Golf Club in Monticello, Minn., with a total of 292.

Men’s Golf Finishes Seventh At Bobby Krig Invitational

The Gustavus men's golf team fired a final round team score of 323 at the Ridges at Sand Creek near Jordan, Minn. and finished seventh out of 13 teams with a 54-hole total of 306-315-323--944. Luther won the team title with a total of 293-304-310--907. Ross Jacobucci of Luther was medalist with a score of 74-73-73--220. Gustavus' top finisher was A. J. Olson, who tied for seventh at 74-75-80--229.

Men’s Golf In Seventh Place After First Day of Bobby Krig Invitational

The Gustavus men's golf team fired rounds of 306-315--322 and is in seventh place (out of 15 teams) at the Bobby Krig Invitational, which is being hosted by Gustavus. The first 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament were played at LeSueur Country Club on Monday. The final 18 holes will be played at the Ridges at Sand Creek near Jordan on Tuesday morning. Saint John's is in first place with a total of 295-301--596. Gustavus was led individually by A.J. Olson who posted a total of 74-75--149.

Ricky Copeland Named MIAC Men’s Golfer of the Week For Second Consecutive Week

Gustavus Adolphus College junior Ricky Copeland (Mahtomedi, Minn.) has been named the MIAC Golfer of the Week by the league's golf coaches. Copeland shot 74-70-144 (even par) to finish fourth out of 91 golfers at the Wartburg Invitational in Waverly, Iowa last weekend. Copeland's total of 144 helped the Gusties finish fourth as a team with a total of (303-296--599) in the 18-team tournament.

The Gustavus men's golf team posted a 36-hole total of 303-296--599 to place fourth at the Wartburg Invitational in Waverly, Iowa. The Gusties were just two shots behind champion St. Thomas, which posted a total of 296-301--597. Gustavus was led by Ricky Copeland, who finished fourth at 74-70--144, and A.J. Olson, who finished seventh at 73-73--146.

The Gustavus men's golf team shot a first round score of 303 and is in fifth place out of 18 teams at the Wartburg In vitational, which is being played in Waverly, Iowa. St. Thomas is in first place with a total of 296. Individually, Gustavus was led by A.J. Olson, who is in a tie for fifth place with a score of 73. The 36-hole tournament will conclude on Saturday.
