Baseball Wins 4-2 In 13 Innings To Salvage Split At Bethel, Drops First Game 3-0

The Gustavus baseball team rallied to score two runs with two outs in the top of the 13th inning to defeat Bethel 4-2 to salvage a series split with the Royals on Saturday. Bethel prevailed in the first game 3-0 as the Gusties managed just four hits. In game one, Brandon Knoll was the hard-luck pitcher in the loss, while Cody Sukalski worked 11 innings in a pitching gem in game two. Tory Herman pitched two scoreless innings in relief to record the second game win.

Men’s Track and Field Turns In Strong Performance At Lee Krough Invitational

The Gustavus men's track and field posted 14 top-eight finishes for a solid team showing at the Lee Krough Invitational on Friday in St. Peter. No team scores were kept during the meet in which over 20 teams participated. Two sprinters finished the meet with event titles in a NCAA provisional qualifying times as Tyler Geyen (Sr., Watertown, Minn.) won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.77 and Cole Carlson (Jr., Mora, Minn.) won the 400-meter dash in 48.26.

Women’s Track and Field Has Strong Showing At Lee Krough Invitational

The Gustavus women's track and field team had a strong team showing at the Lee Krough Invitational on Friday in St. Peter. No team scores were kept during the meet in which over 20 teams participated. Lisa Brown (Sr., Lake Crystal, Minn.) and Kaelene Lundstrum (Jr., Bird Island, Minn.) won events with NCAA provisional qualifying standards, as Brown took first in the javelin throw with a distance of 138 feet, 1 inch and Lundstrum cleared a height of 5 feet, 6 inches in the high jump.

Baseball Drops Doubleheader To Concordia, 0-15, 6-10

The Gustavus baseball team was unable to overcome early deficits in each game of a doubleheader as it was swept by Concordia by the scores of 15-0 and 10-6 on Friday in St. Peter. The Cobbers scored five runs to start the first game and six runs in the beginning of the second game to force the Gusties to play from behind in both games. Gustavus, which dropped to 11-11 overall and 4-2 in the MIAC, will face Bethel in a conference doubleheader on Saturday in Arden Hills at 1 p.m.

Lisa Brown Named MIAC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus senior Lisa Brown (Lake Crystal, Minn./LCWM) was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 6, 2009. Brown provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the shot put and the javelin throw at the Central College Invitational in Pella, Iowa on Saturday.

Baseball Sweeps Saint John’s, Extends Win Streak To Five Games

The Gustavus baseball team extended its current winning streak to five games as it defeated Saint John's 5-3 and 7-2 in St. Peter on Tuesday. Men’s Tennis Sweeps Loras 9-0, Drops 5-4 Heartbreaker To Kenyon

The tenth-ranked Gustavus men's tennis team defeated Loras College 9-0 and fell to ninth-ranked Kenyon College in an extremely tight 5-4 match on Saturday. The Gusties split their squads as half of the team traveled to Dubuque, Iowa to face Loras and the other half traveled to Milwaukee, Wis. to play Kenyon. Gustavus saw its overall record move to 18-8 on the season.

Men’s Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season With Fifth Place Finish At Central Invitational

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's track and field team opened its outdoor season with a fifth-place finish at the Central Invitational in Pella, Iowa. Division I institution Northern Iowa scored 215 points to claim the team title, followed by Division II UM-Duluth (149), host Central College (89), Iowa Central Community College (85) and Gustavus (61).

Baseball Doubleheader With Concordia On Sunday Postponed

The Gustavus baseball team's doubleheader against Concordia scheduled for Sunday, April 5 at 1:00 pm in St. Peter has been postponed. No make up date has been set at this time. The doubleheader was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at the Metrodome.
