RAMSEY, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s golf team finished with scores of 299 and 302 to sit in 7th and in tenth out of 21 teams at the Gustavus Twin Cities Classic. Saint John’s leads the tournament carding a 292.

“We were looking for a bunch of birdies today and we just never got the momentum we were looking for,” said Head Coach Scott Moe.  “We battled back through the middle stretch and then had one bad hole coming in. Really looking forward to playing Elk River tomorrow, we will have a chance to climb right back into it, this is a grueling three day event, on three completely different golf courses.  JP put together a nice round today, Ben Forsberg posted a nice even par round, while making 7 birdies! We need some depth to help us out tomorrow and I think tomorrow is the day that’ll happen.

Jacob Pedersen (Sr., Minnetonka) leads off for the Gusties carding a 71 to tie in fourth, followed by Ben Forsberg (So., Shafer) who shot even par to tie in ninth. Andrew Hoppe (Jr., Mankato) shot a 74 tying in 19th, while Teddy Kaste (Fy., Apple Valley), Max Ullan (Sr., Blaine), and Wyatt Wasko (Jr., Lake Elmo) all carded 76. Carter Czichotzki (Sr., Moorhead) and Khrystjan Petersen (Jr., Faribault) both recorded 77, and Sam Skaar (Sr., Coleraine) rounded out the lineup shooting 79.

The Gusties are back in action when they tee off at 10:30 on Sunday for the second round.
