ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The Gustavus women’s soccer team suffered a 5-0 loss at Saint Benedict on Saturday. The Gusties drop to 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the MAIC, while the Bennies improve to 3-3-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the league.
The Bennies scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 18th minute and added a pair of goals in the 21st minute, taking a 3-0 lead into halftime. The home team added goals in the 53rd and 70th minutes.
Despite outshooting the Bennies 19-16, the Gusties were unable to find the back of the net. Abby Goodno (Sr., Little Canada) took the loss after five goals allowed in 69 minutes. Justine Holm (Jr., Shakopee) finished out the game and made one save.
The Gusties are back in action Wednesday afternoon at home against Saint Mary’s.
