MEN’S RESULTS | WOMEN’S RESULTS

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the Carleton Running of the Cows on Saturday and came away in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

“I’m really excited to see we had a lot of improvement from last week,” Head Coach Brenden Huber said. “The guys improved by an average of 37 seconds and the gals dropped by 43 seconds. There were a lot of personal bests today and that was fun to see.”

The women were led by Julia Severson (Jr., St. Cloud) as she took ninth place in 23:42.7.

“Julia ran a great race and that was a confidence booster for her,” Huber said. “She’s another piece that is going to make that top group stronger.”

Aubrey Mair (Fy., Waconia) took 26th in 24:49.4, Claire Schoenfield (So., Mundelein, Ill.) placed 31st in 25:04.9, and Molly Weberg (Jr., Duluth) took 39th in 25:25.0.

The men’s team was paced by Tyler Smith (Fy., Norwood Young America), taking 12th place in 27:29.9.

“Tyler took another 30 seconds off his time from last week and overall it was a really good day for the guys,” Huber said.

Jake Wielgos (Jr., Elburn, Ill.) finished 16th in 27:46.8, Logan McCullough (So., Waverly, Iowa) took 20th in 27:56.4, and Marcus Hansen (So., St. Paul) placed 23rd in 28:01.7.

“The kids are getting more comfortable with the full distance races and they are very happy with the results out of the group,” Huber said.

Gustavus next competes on Friday at Hamline.
