MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Gustavus men’s hockey team defeated UW-Stout 2-0 on Saturday night, leaving its weekend in Wisconsin with a 3-1 overall record.

The Gusties took an early lead 3:30 into the game. After a couple sprawling saves by Gustie goalie Justin Damon (Fy., St. Michael), Axel Hallin (Sr., Hovas, Sweden) sprung the puck loose to Tyler Ebner (So., La Crosse, Wis.) for a two-on-one breakaway with Tyler Rock (Jr., Savage) and Rock went five-hole for the goal.

After a scoreless second period, Logan Norman (Jr., Luverne) found the back of the net for the third time this season 5:41 into the third. Reid Brown (Sr., Superior, Colo.) and Rock assisted on the insurance goal.

Damon earned his first collegiate win in shutout fashion for Gustavus, stopping all 33 shots faced. The Gusties finished with 27 shots. Neither team was able to score in the man-advantage with the Gusties going 0-3 and the Blue Devils 0-4.

Gustavus hosts UW-Eau Claire and UW-River Falls next Friday and Saturday, respectively, for its home opening weekend at Don Roberts Ice Rink.
