GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 20 Gustavus men’s golf team wrapped up play at the NCAA Division III Preview on Monday at Grandover Resort, taking 17th of 18 teams with a score of 306-311-311-928. “Definitely not the result we were hoping for heading into the preview tournament,” Head Coach Scott Moe said. “It is obviously a very strong field and probably the best one you will see in the country this year.”

Alec Aunan (Sr., Rock Island, Ill.) posted a consistent 75-75-74-224, tying for 28th. Ben Hauge (So., Ramsey, Minn.) tied for 59th after improving each round for an 80-78-74-232. Carter Czichotzki (Fy., Moorhead, Minn.) tied for 61st with a 75-78-80-233, Chris Captain (Sr., Rochester, Minn.) tied for 78th at 76-80-83, and Joe Foley (So., East Gull Lake, Minn.) took 89th with an 80-81-89-249.

“Alec put together some birdies today for a nice event,” Moe said. “Ben posted a pretty good number today as well. We need to get back to work so we are ready for the MIAC Championships this weekend. It will be a great battle as the conference is very competitive again this year.”

Gustavus next competes in the MIAC Championships, hosted at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, Minn., Saturday through Monday.
