Moorhead, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus men’s indoor track and field team doubled its day one point total to finish ninth at the MIAC Championships with a two-day team score of 36. The 2015 MIAC Championships were held on Friday and Saturday in the Olson Forum on the campus of Concordia College.

Headlining day two’s events was Derek Huntley (So., Maplewood, Minn.) with his All-Conference performance in the pole vault. Huntley cleared 14-feet 5.5-inches to finish runner-up behind Hamline’s Mark Volker who went over the bar at 15-feet 1.5-inches.

Leading Gustavus’s top efforts on the track was the 4×400-meter relay team made up of Ed ReMine (So., Mantorville, Minn.), Sam ReMine (So., Mantorville, Minn.), David Anderson (So., St. Michael, Minn.), and Kyle Fredrickson (So., Victoria, Minn.). The group crossed the finish line in 3:27.16 to come in fourth.

Also on the track, Kyle Fredrickson added to his 4×400 split with a sixth place showing in the 600-meter dash in 1:23.89. Thomas Knobbe (So., Decorah, Iowa) rounded out the team’s scorers on day two with an eighth place run in the 3,000-meter with a time of 8:48.56.

The top three individuals in each event and the first-place relay team will automatically earn All-Conference honors, and the 4th-through-6th place finishers in each open event and 2nd-through-6th place relay teams will all be named All-Conference Honorable Mention. The top individual and Coach-of-the-Year awards will be voted on by the coaches and announced in the coming week.
