Softball Picks Up Two More Wins Sweeping Macalester 8-0, 10-0

The Gustavus softball team swept Macalester in St. Paul on Thursday afternoon by the scores of 8-0 (5 inn.) and 10-0 (5 inn.). First year Lisa Klass was the hitting star for the Gusties as she went 4-for-5 with four runs scored and six RBI in the doubleheader. Betsie Collins was the winning pitcher in the first game, while Erin Truebenbach tossed a perfect game to claim the win in the second game.

Men’s Tennis Defeats Carleton 8-1 To Remain Unbeaten In MIAC

The Gustavus men's tennis team remained undefeated in conference play as the Gusties defeated Carleton 8-1 on Thursday in Northfield. Gustavus, which has won 221 consecutive league matches, improved to and 7-0 in the MIAC and 19-8 overall. Head Coach Steve Wilkinson's squad returns to action against Kalamazoo on Sunday, April 19 at 10 a.m. in Milwaukee, Wis.

Ricky Copeland Named MIAC Men’s Golfer of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College junior Ricky Copeland (Mahtomedi, Minn.) has been named the MIAC Golfer of the Week by the league's golf coaches. Copeland shot 74-73 (+3) to finish in sixth place out of 123 golfers at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill. Copeland's total of 147 led Gustavus to an eighth-place finish (302-320--622) in the 22-team invitational.

Softball Team Continues Winning Ways, Sweeps St. Olaf – 5-1, 11-0

The Gustavus softball team remained undefeated in conference play by sweeping St. Olaf on Wednesday afternoon in St. Peter by the scores of 5-1 and 11-0. Erin Truebenbach tossed a two-hitter for the Gusties in game one, and Callie Nelsen hurled a one-hitter in game two. Gustavus improves to 17-3 overall and 6-0 in the MIAC.

Baseball Sweeps Saint John’s, Extends Win Streak To Five Games

The Gustavus baseball team extended its current winning streak to five games as it defeated Saint John's 5-3 and 7-2 in St. Peter on Tuesday. Lisa Brown Named MIAC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus senior Lisa Brown (Lake Crystal, Minn./LCWM) was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 6, 2009. Brown provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the shot put and the javelin throw at the Central College Invitational in Pella, Iowa on Saturday.

Betsie Collins, Emily Klein Named MIAC Pitcher, Player of the Week

Junior Pitcher Betsie Collins (Waseca, Minn.) was named Pitcher of the Week, while senior outfielder Emily Klein (Red Wing, Minn.) was named co-Player of the Week for the second consecutive week by the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Monday. Collins tossed two shutouts, while Klein hit .583 driving in 11 runs with three home runs, two triples and a double to help the Gusties sweep doubleheaders with Carleton and Augsburg last week.

Women’s Golf Wins Weather Shortened Wartburg Invitational

The Gustavus women's golf team posted a score of 321 to win the nine-team, Wartburg Invitational by five strokes over runner-up UW-Eau Claire. Junior Kali Griggs finished third individually with a round of 78. The Gustavus White team placed fifth with a total of 345.

Women’s Tennis Drops Two Heartbreakers On Saturday, Finishes Fourth at Midwest Invitational

The Gustavus women's tennis team played excellent tennis on the final day of the Midwest Invitational but lost two close matches to finish fourth out of 11 teams. The Gusties lost 5-3 to Denison in the semifinals on Saturday morning and then lost 5-3 to DePauw in the third place match on Saturday afternoon. The Gusties are now 12-9 overall.

Men’s Golf Finishes Eighth at Illinois Wesleyan Invitational

The Gustavus men's golf team finished eighth out of 20 teams at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational which was played at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois. Host Illinois Wesleyan finished first with a 36-hole total of 291-293--584, while the Gusties posted a total of 302-320--622. Gustavus was led by Ricky Copeland, who finished sixth individually with a total of 74-73--147.
