Women’s Track and Field Starts Outdoor Season With Fifth Place Finish At Central Invitational

The Gustavus Adolphus College women's track and field team opened its outdoor season with a fifth-place finish at the Central Invitational in Pella, Iowa. Division II institution UM-Duluth scored 166.5 points to claim the team title, followed by Northern Iowa (149), Drake University (94), Augustana (IL) (84.5), and Gustavus (83.25).

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's track and field team opened its outdoor season with a fifth-place finish at the Central Invitational in Pella, Iowa. Division I institution Northern Iowa scored 215 points to claim the team title, followed by Division II UM-Duluth (149), host Central College (89), Iowa Central Community College (85) and Gustavus (61).

Men’s Tennis Sweeps Loras 9-0, Drops 5-4 Heartbreaker To Kenyon

The tenth-ranked Gustavus men's tennis team defeated Loras College 9-0 and fell to ninth-ranked Kenyon College in an extremely tight 5-4 match on Saturday. The Gusties split their squads as half of the team traveled to Dubuque, Iowa to face Loras and the other half traveled to Milwaukee, Wis. to play Kenyon. Gustavus saw its overall record move to 18-8 on the season.

Bats Come Alive As Softball Team Sweeps Augsburg, 11-0 and 13-3

The Gustavus softball team extended its winning streak to six games with a convincing sweep over Augsburg on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter by the scores of 11-0 and 13-3. Both games were halted after five innings due to the 8-run rule. Emily Klein was the hitting star for the Gusties as she was 5-for-6 in the two games with six runs scored and eight RBI. Klein was 3-for-4 in the second game as she drove in a school record seven runs with two home runs, and a triple.

Men’s Golf Tied For Second Place After First Day of the Illlinois Wesleyan Invitational

The Gustavus men's golf team shot a first round 302 and is in a tie for second place with Benedictine University at the 22-team Illinois Wesleyan University, which is being played at Ironwood Golf Club in Normal, Illinois. Host Illinois Wesleyan is in first place with a total of 291. John Anderson led Gustavus with a 72, which was the third best score of the day. The 36-hole tournament concludes on Saturday.

Gustavus Women’s Tennis Wins Twice, Advances To Semifinals Of Midwest Invitational

The Gustavus women's tennis team posted a first round win over Carthage (7-2) and then surprised Washington University (5-4) in the quarterfinals of the Midwest Invitational, which is being played in Madison, Wisc. The Gusties will now face Denison University in the semifinals on Saturday morning at 7:15 am. Gustavus, which is ranked #17 in the latest ITA Div. III poll, improves to 12-7 overall.

Strong Pitching Keys Softball Team’s Sweep Against Carleton

The Gustavus softball team got sterling pitching performances from Betsie Collins and Callie Nelsen on its way to a sweep against MIAC foe Carleton by the scores of 8-0 (5 inn.) and 9-0 (5 inn.). Collins tossed a two-hitter in the Gusties 8-0 win in game one and Nelsen fired a one-hitter in the 9-0 win in game two. Emily Klein and Rachael Click each hit two-run home runs in game one, while Raquel Davis went 3-for-3 with a double and a triple in game two. The Gusties are now 13-3 overall, 2-0 in the MIAC.

Baseball Opens MIAC Schedule With Sweep Over Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus baseball team kicked off its MIAC schedule with a pair of wins against Saint Mary's by the scores of 6-0 and 6-5 in eight innings in Winona on Thursday. Cody Sukalski pitched a complete game shutout in the first game, while Derek Eddie earned the win in the second game after pitching 4.2 innings in relief. Tory Herman and Chad Eul combined to go 8-for-15 from the plate with five RBI. The Gusties improved to 9-9 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
