The Gustavus men’s golf team opened its 2005 fall season with a first place finish at the 10-team St. Thomas Invitational. The 36-hole tournament was played at Willinger’s Golf Club on Sunday and Hillcrest Country Club on Monday. The Gusties fired a team score of 310-292-602 to finish one stroke ahead of Winona State at 315-288-603. Clayton Johnson and Eric Harris led the Gusties individually as both placed fifth with identical scores of 148.

Coach Scott Moe’s squad placed eight golfers in the top 22. Following Johnson and Harris in fifth place were Jordan Hawkinson (75-76-151) and Eric Tone (77-74-151) in tenth, Mark Stuckey (82-71-153) and Arie DeGrio (79-74-153) in 15th, and Kyle Rohlfs (79-75-154) in 22nd place.
