The Gustavus men’s soccer team secured their second win in as many days Sunday, downing the Simpson College Storm 4-0 in Indianola, Iowa. Sophomore J.T. Johnson added three more points to his season total Sunday as he assisted on Caleb Bousu’s game-winner in the tenth minute. Johnson also connected on a shot from the 50-yard-line of the football field in Buxton Stadium for his third goal of the weekend.

Bousu opened the scoring in the tenth minute taking a ball from Johnson and placing it in the back of the net. Johnson’s rocket-shot followed in the 35th minute, sailing over the left shoulder of Simpson keeper Philip Gravely.

Senior Bobby Kroog scored his first goal of the season 1:28 later from 20 yards out to make it 3-0. Alex Groth was credited with the assist. Gabe Joyes rounded out the scoring in the 71st minute, taking a lead pass from Ben Heupel and knocking the ball in from five yards out.

Gustavus outshot the Storm 20-10 and held a 14-4 corner kick advantage. Trevor Brown and Tyler Garry combined for the Gustie’s first shutout of the season. Each picked up three saves as Gustavus moved to 2-1-1 with the victory.
