Women’s Golf Finishes Third At NCAA Championships, Griggs Places Tied For Sixth Individually

The Gustavus women's golf team posted a final round score of 325 to hang on for third place at the NCAA Championships out of 21 teams. The 72-hole tournament, was played at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Junior Kali Griggs (Burnsville, Minn.) wrapped up a strong tournament with a final round score of 79 (+7). Griggs finished tied for sixth overall (out of 111) with a 72-hole total of 77-80-78-79--314 to improve on her 84th place finish last year.

Griggs, Schenfeld, Kosak, and Drenttel Honored By National Golf Coaches Association

The National Golf Coaches Association announced its 2008-09 awards at the NCAA Division III Championships and four Gustavus golfers were honored by the NGCA. Kali Griggs received First Team All-America honors, while Katie Schenfeld received Second Team All-America honors. In addition, Griggs, Schenfeld, Kimbra Kosak, and Taylor Drenttel were named to the Midwest All-Region team. The Gusties are currently in fourth place at the 2009 NCAA Championships being held in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Kimbra Kosak, Taylor Drenttel, And Scott Moe Earn MIAC Women’s Golf Awards

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced the 2008-09 MIAC Women's Golf Awards as Gustavus' Kimbra Kosak (Grand Rapids, Minn.) was selected MIAC Senior of the Year and Taylor Drenttel (Eagan, Minn.) was named MIAC Rookie of the Year. Head Coach Scott Moe was also named the MIAC Coach of the Year.

Women’s Golf Climbs To Third Place At NCAA Championships

The Gustavus women's golf team continued to climb the scoreboard as it moved to third place at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships on Thursday at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida after shooting a team score of 326. The Gusties have a three-day total of 322-324-326--972. Methodist University remained in first place with scores of 321-310-310--941, while UW-Stevens Point stayed in second place at 322-318-320--960.

Women’s Golf Moves To Fourth Place At NCAA Championships After Second Day

The Gustavus women's golf team moved up to fourth place at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships on Thursday at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida after shooting a team score of 324. The Gusties have a two-day total of 322-324--646, which is 15 strokes behind first place Methodist University at 321-310--631. Individually, Kali Griggs is in a four-way tie for ninth place after shooting a second round 80 for a two-day total of 77-80--157.

Women’s Golf Set To Tee Off At NCAA Championships

The Gustavus women's golf team is prepared to tee off at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday in Port St. Lucie, Florida at 12:50 p.m. (EST) along with Amherst and Middlebury. The 72-hole tournament, which will be played at the The PGA Golf Club, starts Wednesday, May 13 and concludes on Saturday, May 16. The Gusties are making their sixth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championships.

Women’s Golf Tied For Fifth Place After First Day Of NCAA Championships

The Gustavus women's golf team is in a three-way tie for fifth place after the first day of the NCAA Division III Championships which are being held at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The Gusties were sparked by the play of Kali Griggs, who fired a five-over par round of 77. Gustavus, which shot a first round team score of 322 trails first place University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, which shot a 312, by 10 shots.

Women’s Golf Wins Rain-Shortened Gustavus Quadrangular

The Gustavus women's golf team won its own Gustavus Quadrangular with a team score of 327. Other team scores included Gustavus Black in second place at 354, St. Olaf in third at 364, and MSU, Mankato Purple in fourth place at 376. The tournament was shortened from 36 to 18 holes after heavy rains forced cancellation of Sunday's round scheduled for North Links Golf Course in North Mankato, Minn. Katie Schenfeld finished first individually with a score of 78.

Katie Schenfeld Named MIAC Golfer of the Week

Gustavus sophomore Katie Schenfeld has been named MIAC Golfer of the Week by the league's golf coaches. Schenfeld, who finished first individually at the St. Thomas Invitational last week with a career best 36-hole score of 74-76--150, helped the Gusties win the 13-team tournament with a team score of 308-314-622.

Women’s Golf Wins St. Thomas Invitational In Convincing Fashion

The Gustavus women's golf team continued its fine play with a first place finish out of 13 teams at the St. Thomas Invitational played at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, Minn. The Gusties, who are rated #3 nationally, finished 17 strokes ahead of second place UW-Stevens Point, which is rated #2 nationally. Katie Schenfeld finished first individually with a career best 36-hole total of 74-76--150.
