Women’s Golf Finishes Third at NCAA Fall Preview in Florida

The Gustavus women's golf team finished third out of 11 teams at the NCAA Division III Fall Preview which was played at the El Campeon Course at the Mission Inn Golf Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida (Orlando area). Gustavus posted a 36-hole team total of 369-343--711. Methodist College won the tournament with a score of 333-312--645.

Women’s Golf Sixth After Day One of NCAA Fall Preview

The Gustavus women's golf team sits in sixth place following day one of the NCAA Division III Fall Preview hosted by Oglethorpe University. The Gusties fired a 18-hole total of 368 and are three shots behind the host school. Breanne Staples shot the low round of the day for the Gusties with a 41-43--84 and is tied for fourth place individually, just three shots out of the lead. Eight-time defending national champion Methodist leads the field after firing a team score of 333 on day one.

Women’s Golf Finishes Second at MIAC Tourney

The Gustavus women's golf team turned in a strong performance on the second day of the MIAC Championships, but came up three shots short of St. Thomas, which claimed its fifth straight title. The Gusties were led by Kelli Groff and Erin Schliep, who tied for second place individually.

Women’s Golf Struggles on First Day of MIAC Championships

The Gustavus women's golf team had a rough first day at the MIAC Championships which are being held at StoneRidge Golf Course in Stillwater, Minn. The Gusties fired a first round score of 345 and trail first place St. Thomas by 16 strokes. Erin Schliep led Gustavus with a first round score of 82. The final round will be played on Sunday.

Women’s Golf Wins Midwest Classic in Record Fashion

The Gustavus women's golf team dusted off their erasers and rewrote the record book for the second consecutive day en route to winning the Midwest Classic on Saturday. The Gusties set new team 18-hole and 36-hole records after firing 313-311--624 to outdistance University of St. Thomas by 15 strokes. Senior Kelli Groff (Bloomington, Minn.) took medalist honors, setting new individual 18-hole and 36-hole marks, after shooting 74-72--146 during the weekend.

Women’s Golf Topples Records at Midwest Classic

The Gustavus women's golf team set a pair of school records on Saturday during the first round of the Midwest Classic. The Gusties shot a 18-hole team score of 313, which shattered the old record by seven strokes. Senior Kelli Groff (Bloomington, Minn.) added her name to the Gustavus record list after posting a school-record 74 on day one. She currently leads the medalist standings and bettered the old mark of 75 by one stroke. The Gusties lead St. Thomas in the team competition, 313-317.

Women’s Golf 13th at University of Minnesota Invitational

The Gustavus women's golf team finished 13th of 14 teams at the Minnesota Invitational held at the Les Bolstad/University of Minnesota Golf Course Friday through Sunday. The Gusties shot 326-332-336--994 during the three day event. Gustavus was the only Division III school competing at the meet, won by the gold team from the University of Minnesota (303-321-299--923). Senior Kelli Groff led Gustavus individually after shooting a 54-hole total of 82-77-81--240.

Women’s Golf Wins Cobber Open, Kimbra Kosak Ties for First Individually

Gustavus shot a total team score of 327 to claim the championship of the Cobber Open on Friday at Wildflower Golf Course in Detroit Lakes, Minn. The Gusties were paced by Kimbra Kosak who tied for medalist honors with an 80.

Kelli Groff Named MIAC Women’s Golfer of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College senior Kelli Groff (Bloomington, Minn. / Jefferson), the defending MIAC champion, opened her 2005-06 season by firing rounds of 78 and 77 to finish second in the UW-Eau Claire BluGold Invitational. Groff's finish came against one of the best fields in Division III golf, as the tourney featured three teams that qualified for the 2005 NCAA Championships and eight teams ranked in the final 2004-05 NCAA/Golfstat top 25. She led the Gusties to a second-place team finish as well.

Women’s Golf Finishes Second at UW-Eau Claire Invitational

The Gustavus women's golf team opened its 2005 fall season with a strong second place finish at the 17-team UW-Eau Claire Invitational played at Mill Run and Wild Ridge Golf Clubs in Eau Claire. Senior Kelli Groff led the team individually as she placed second with a 36-hole total of 78-77--155.
