Gustavus Set To Host 2009 ITA Midwest Regional Tennis Tournament

Gustavus Adolphus College is hosting the Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional Championship at the Swanson Indoor Tennis Center and the Brown Outdoor Courts. The Men's Division III Midwest Region Championships will take place Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4. The Wilson/ITA Men's Division III Regional at Gustavus will feature 26 of the top small college tennis programs in the region.

Men’s Tennis Plays Well At Drake Invitational

The Gustavus men's tennis team played well against mostly Division I competition at the Drake Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa over the weekend. Coach Tommy Valentini's squad posted a record of 6-5 in the doubles draw and 4-7 in the singles draw.

Men’s Tennis Turns In Strong First Day At Drake Invitational

The Gustavus men's tennis team had a successful first day at the Drake Invitational on Friday. Two of the three Gustavus doubles teams went undefeated on the day as Tyler Johnson and Amrik Donkena went 2-0, while Patrick Clark and Niko Karnop went 3-0. The two teams will now meet in the semifinals on Saturday. The Gusties are the only Division III team in the tournament.

Gustavus Adolphus College senior men's tennis players John Kauss (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and Mike Burdakin (Sr., Bettendorf, Iowa) saw their seasons come to an end after losses in singles and doubles at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships in Claremont, Calif. Kauss fell in the semifinal round of singles play, while Burdakin and Kauss bowed out of the doubles draw in the quarterfinals.

Gustavus Adolphus men's tennis player John Kauss (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) won two singles matches before pairing with Mike Burdakin (Sr., Bettendorf, Iowa) to win a doubles match to to the quarterfinals of both the singles and doubles draws at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships. The championships are being held at Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif. Quarterfinals in both draws and semifinals in singles will be contested on Saturday.

Men’s Tennis Falls To Washington University 5-3 In NCAA Quarterfinals

The Gustavus men's tennis team saw its season come to an end after suffering a 5-3 loss to Washington University in the NCAA quarterfinal round on Tuesday morning. The NCAA Championship is being hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College in Claremont, Calif. The Gusties finish the season at 27-9, while the Bears improved to 22-2.

Men’s Tennis To Face Washington University In NCAA Division III Team Championships

The Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team will participate in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships Tuesday-Sunday, May 19-24 at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is the host institution. Gustavus will face Washington University in St. Louis in a quarterfinal match at 12 pm (CDT), Tuesday, May 19. Individual competition in singles and doubles will follow team competition May 22-24.

Gustavus Adolphus earned its 10th consecutive trip to the NCAA Team Championship Finals after defeating Luther College 5-0 on Sunday afternoon in St. Peter. The Gusties, who are now 27-8 overall, will compete at the NCAA Team Championships hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on May 19-21 in Claremont, California.

Men’s Tennis Advances To NCAA Regional Final With 5-0 Win Over UW-Whitewater

The Gustavus men's tennis team advanced to the championship match of the NCAA Regional with a convincing 5-0 win over UW-Whitwater on Saturday afternoon at the Swanson Tennis Center on the Gustavus campus. The Gusties will face Luther College, which upset the University of Texas-Tyler by the score of 5-4 on Saturday.

John Kauss Selected To Compete In NCAA Individual Championships, Kauss and Mike Burdakin Chosen For Doubles

The NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Committee has selected John Kauss (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) as one of 32 single players to participate in the NCAA Men's Tennis Individual Championship and is the only undefeated Division III player in the singles draw at 24-0. Kauss and doubles partner Mike Burdakin (Sr., Bettendorf, Iowa) were also selected as one of 16 double teams to participate in the NCAA Men's Tennis Double Championship.
