Five Members of Gustavus Men’s Tennis Team Earn All-Conference Honors

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2010 Men's Tennis Awards recently and five members of the conference champion Gusties were named to the All-Conference Team. That group included Amrik Donkena, Patrick Clark, Tyler Johnson, and Daniel Pomeranc in singles and Donkena and Johnson, and Clark and Kyle Olson in doubles.

Men’s Tennis Falls To Luther 5-4

The Gustavus men's tennis team dropped a tight 5-4 decision to Luther College at the Swanson Indoor Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. The Gusties got off to a slow start dropping all three doubles matches, but then rallied to win four of the six singles matches.

Men’s Tennis Remains Perfect In MIAC Play With 8-1 Win At St. Olaf

The Gustavus men's tennis team defeated St. Olaf 8-1 in Northfield on Saturday afternoon to finish MIAC regular season play with a perfect 9-0 record. This is the 25th consecutive season that the Gusties have posted an undefeated record in MIAC regular season play.

Men’s Tennis Defeats St. Thomas and Bethel, Clinches At Least Share Of MIAC Title

The Gustavus men's tennis team defeated St. Thomas 7-2 in the morning inside the Swanson Tennis Center and then moved outside in the afternoon and defeated Bethel 9-0 on the Brown Outdoor Courts. With the two league wins, the Gusties improved to 8-0 in MIAC play and clinched at least a share of the conference title with one match remaining next Saturday against St. Olaf.

Men’s Tennis Defeats Saint Mary’s, Loses To Kalamazoo

The Gustavus men's tennis team split two road matches this weekend defeating Saint Mary's 9-0 in Winona on Friday and falling to Kalamazoo 7-2 in Milwaukee, Wis. on Sunday afternoon. The Gusties are now 10-8 overall and 6-0 in the MIAC.

Men’s Tennis Knocks Off Carleton 6-3 To Stay Unbeaten In League Play

The Gustavus men's tennis team knocked off pre-season league favorite Carleton 6-3 in an important league dual match on Saturday afternoon in St. Peter. The Gusties trailed 2-1 after doubles play, but won five of the six singles matches to claim the 6-3 victory. Gustavus improves to 10-7 overall and 5-0 in the MIAC, while Carleton falls to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in league play.

Men’s Tennis Stays Unbeaten In MIAC Play With 8-1 Win At Saint John’s

The Gustavus men's tennis team improved its MIAC record to 4-0 with an 8-1 win at Saint John's on Friday evening. Gustavus won the #1 and #2 doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead after doubles play and then swept the six singles matches without dropping a set on its way to the 8-1 victory.

Men’s Tennis Defeats UW-Whitewater and Univ. of Sioux Falls At Swanson Tennis Center

The Gustavus men's tennis team improved to 7-4 overall on the season with non-conference wins over UW-Whitewater (7-2) and the University of Sioux Falls (8-1). Amrik Donkena and Tyler Johnson went undefeated in four matches on the day as Donkena went 2-0 at #1 singles and #1 doubles and Johnson was perfect at #4 singles and #1 doubles with Donkena.

Men’s Tennis Picks Up Convincing Wins Over MSU, Mankato and Hamline

The Gustavus men's tennis team picked up a pair of 9-0 wins over Minnesota State, Mankato and Hamline University on Friday at the Swanson Tennis Center. The Gusties played well in dropping only one set in the two matches. Coach Tommy Valentini's squad improves to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in the MIAC.

Men’s Tennis Opens Season With 5-4 Win Over UW-Eau Claire, Valentini Picks Up First Win As Collegiate Head Coach

The Gustavus men's tennis team started its 2010 season on a positive note with a hard-fought 5-4 win over UW-Eau Claire at the Swanson Tennis Center on Saturday evening. The Gusties got off to a slow start losing two of three doubles matches, however they rallied to win the match by claiming four of the six doubles matches and slipped past the Blugolds by a point.
