Men’s Hockey Falls To Bethel 3-2 In Overtime

The Gustavus men's hockey team suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to Bethel when the Royals' Brad Peterson scored the game-winning goal :24 into the extra period on Saturday at Don Roberts Ice Rink. Gustavus held a 45-21 shots on goal advantage, but Bethel goaltender Aaron Damjanovich kept the Royals in the game by making 43 saves. The Gusties fell to 6-4-0 overall and 3-3-0 in league play, while Bethel moved to 6-4-1 overall and 3-3-0 in the MIAC.

David Martinson scored a power play goal three minutes into overtime to give the Gustavus men's hockey team a 2-1 win over Bethel in Blaine on Friday. Head Coach Brett Petersen earned the 100th win of his career with the victory as the Gusties improved to 6-3-0 overall and 3-2-0 in the MIAC. The Royals dropped to 6-4-1 overall and 2-3-0 in the league standings.

Shorthanded Goals Doom Men’s Hockey In 3-2 Loss To St. Olaf

The Gustavus men's hockey team allowed two short-handed goals in the third period as St. Olaf defeated the Gusties 3-2 on Saturday at All Seasons Arena in Mankato, Minn. Ole goaltender Nick Krauss kept St. Olaf in the contest, making 33 saves, until the Oles tallied two short-handed goals on consecutive Gustavus power plays to earn the series sweep. The Gusties dropped to 5-3-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the MIAC standings, while St. Olaf moved to 6-2-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the conference.

The Gustavus men's hockey team fell to St. Olaf 4-3 on Friday night in Northfield when Barrett Simons scored the game-winning goal with 2:06 remaining in the contest. The Gusties held a 2-0 lead midway through the first period, but the Oles scored the next three goals before Eric Bigham tied the score at 3-3 in the third period. Men’s Hockey Records 750th Win In Program History With 3-0 Win Versus Saint Mary’s

The 14th-ranked Gustavus men's hockey team improved to 5-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the MIAC after a 3-0 decision over Saint Mary's at All Seasons Arena on Sunday night. Jared Ackmann, David Martinson, and Rory Dynan scored for the Gusties, while Matt Lopes posted the second consecutive shutout for the squad. The victory was the 750th in the history of the men's hockey program. The Gusties have compiled a 750-569-52 record for a .569 winning percentage in 67 seasons.

Men’s Hockey Shuts Out Saint Mary’s 6-0 In MIAC Opener

The 14th-ranked Gustavus men's hockey team registered a shutout in its MIAC season opener with a 6-0 victory over Saint Mary's on Friday night in Winona, Minn. Head Coach Brett Petersen and the Gusties scored three goals in the first period, including two goals from defenseman Cody Mosbeck (Jr., Emo, Ontario). Goaltender Josh Swartout (So., St. Louis Park, Minn.) registered the third shutout of his career with 24 saves as Gustavus improved to 4-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the MIAC.

Men’s Hockey Knocks Off #11 UW-Stout 6-5

Junior David Martinson scored a power play goal midway through the third period to break a 5-5 tie to help the Gustavus men's hockey team defeat No. 11 UW-Stout 6-5 in Menomonie, Wis. on Friday night. Head Coach Brett Petersen's squad converted three of four power plays opportunities including Martinson's game-winning goal to improve to 2-1-0 overall. UW-Stout fell to 4-2-0 with the loss.

Martinson Hat Trick Propels Gustavus Past Lake Forest 6-1

David Martinson posted three goals to help push the Gustavus men's hockey team past Lake Forest 6-1 on Saturday at All Seasons Arena in Mankato, Minn. Martinson scored one goal in the first period and twice in the second to become the 21st player in program history to record three career hat tricks or more. Gustavus maintained pressure in the Forester end all night as Coach Petersen's squad outshot Lake Forest 51-17.

Men’s Hockey Loses Season Opener To St. Norbert 7-5

The Gustavus men's hockey team lost its first game of the season 7-5 against top-ranked St. Norbert College on Saturday at All Seasons Arena in Mankato, Minn. The Gusties fought back from a 6-2 deficit to trail by one goal midway through the third period, but an empty net goal by the Green Knights ended the comeback. David Martinson scored two goals and an assist to lead Gustavus as St. Norbert allowed five goals for the first time since February 3, 2007.
