Dynan Brothers Play Big Part In Men’s Hockey 4-2 Win At Augsburg

The Dynan brothers registered six points on three goals and three assists as the Gustavus men's hockey team defeated Augsburg 4-2 on Friday night in Minneapolis, Minn. Patrick Dynan tallied a goal and two assists, while Rory recorded a goal and an assist and Casey scored a goal. Gustie goaltender Josh Swartout made 25 saves in the win as Gustavus moved its overall mark to 11-7-0 and 6-3-0 in the MIAC. The Auggies fell to 3-13-0 overall and 2-5-0 in the league.

David Martinson Named MIAC Men’s Hockey Player of the Week

Gustavus Adolphus College junior forward David Martinson (St. Louis Park, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending January 19, 2009. Martinson tallied four goals and an assist, including the game-winning goal in both games, to lead the Gusties to a 5-3 and 3-2 sweep of St. Thomas last weekend.

Martinson’s Late Goal Gives Men’s Hockey 3-2 Win At St. Thomas

David Martinson scored with 1:01 left in regulation to lift the Gustavus men's hockey team over St. Thomas 3-2 on Saturday night in Mendota Heights, Minn. The Gusties, who earned their first regular-season sweep over the Tommies since the 1983-84 season, moved into a tie with Hamline for second place in the MIAC standings at 5-3-0 (10 points) and reached 10-7-0 overall. St. Thomas dropped to 3-2-1 in the league and 6-7-2 overall.

David Martinson picked up his second hat trick of the season to help the Gustavus men's hockey team snap a three-game losing skid as the Gusties defeated St. Thomas 5-3 on Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink. With the score tied 2-2 after two periods, Head Coach Brett Petersen's squad tallied three goals in three minutes at the start of the third period en route to the victory. The Gusties improved to 9-7-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the MIAC, while the Tommies dropped to 6-6-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the league.

Men’s Hockey Shut Out In 5-0 Decision To No. 6 St. Scholastica

The Gustavus men's hockey team was shut out for the first time this season as the Gusties lost 5-0 to No. 6 St. Scholastica on Saturday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink in St. Peter. Five different players had goals for the Saints as they clinched the win with three goals in the third period. The Gusties outshot St. Scholastica 28-25, but Saint goaltender Steve Bounds kept Gustavus off the scoreboard by recording 28 saves. The Gusties dropped to 8-7-0 overall, as the Saints moved to 12-3-1.

Men’s Hockey Suffers 5-4 Overtime Loss to No. 2 UW-Superior

Second-ranked UW-Superior's Chris Wilson scored his second goal of the game with 00:44 remaining in overtime as the Yellowjackets came from behind to defeat the Gustavus men's hockey team 5-4 at Don Roberts Ice Rink on Friday night. The Gusties held a 4-3 lead late in the third period when Talon Berlando tied the score with 1:34 left in regulation to send the game into extra frames. Gustavus fell to 8-6-0 overall, while UW-Superior improved its overall mark to 14-1-1.

Men’s Hockey Falls To Norwich 4-3 In Championship Game At Norwich Tournament

The Gustavus men's hockey team fell to #12 Norwich University 4-3 on Saturday night in the championship game of the Norwich Holiday Tournament in Northfield, Vermont. The Cadets never trailed due in part to the play of tournament MVP goaltender Ryan Klingensmith as he made 38 saves in the contest. Joe Welch registered two goals for the Gusties, while James Leathers assisted all three scores. David Martinson and Brad Wieck represented Gustavus on the all-tournament team.

The Gustavus men's hockey team jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead and held on for an important 4-1 win over #5 Elmira College at the Norwich Holiday Tournament in Northfield, Vermont. Brad Wieck recorded the first two-goal game of his collegiate career and goaltender Matt Lopes turned in a strong performance in the nets to move the Gusties into the championship game on Saturday at 6:00 pm (CST) against the winner of the Norwich/Neumann game.

Gustavus Adolphus College first-year forward Ross Ring-Jarvi (Anoka, Minn.) has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending December 15, 2008. Ring-Jarvi tallied three points on one goal and two assists in the Gusties' 6-3 win over No. 13 UW-Stevens Point on Saturday in Stevens Point, Wis.

Men’s Hockey Gets Back On Track With 6-3 Win Over UW-Stevens Point

The Gustavus men's hockey team scored three goals in the third period to defeat 13th-ranked UW-Stevens Point 6-3 on Saturday night in Stevens Point, Wis. Special teams played an important part in the win as the Gusties recorded two power-play goals and one shorthanded goal. Several players got in on the scoring as six different players accounted for the goals, while David Martinson and Ross Ring-Jarvi led the way with one goal and two assists each.
