NCAA Outdoor Track And Field Championships: Day Three Women’s Recap

Gustavus Adolphus senior Kaelene Lundstrum and junior Sam Broderius represented the Gustavus women's outdoor track and field team in the final day of competition at the Division III NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships held on the campus of Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. Lundstrum competed in the high jump, finishing 16th after clearing 5' 3.75". Broderius competed in the discus, finishing fourth in heat #2 with a throw of 135’ 11”, yet not making the finals. The Gusties finished tied for 44th place after compiling five points at the three-day event.

Gustavus Adolphus junior Janey Helland (Mapleton, Minn) has been named the Central Region Women’s Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Women’s Outdoor Track And Field In First Place After Day One Of MIAC Championships

The Gustavus women’s outdoor track and field team is currently in the lead after day one of competition at the 2010 MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships being held Friday and Saturday, May 14-15 in Winona, Minn. The Gusties scored a total of 63.5 points on the day, as St. Thomas scored 53 points and currently sits in second place. St. Benedict rounds out the top three in third with 33 points.

After finishing runner-up the previous five seasons, the Gustavus women’s outdoor track and field team is set to challenge front-runner St. Thomas for the 2010 MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship on March 14-15 in Winona, Minn.

Helland And Broderius Register Wins At The Meet Of The UnSaintly

The Gustavus women’s outdoor track and field team competed in its final meet of the regular season at the Meet of the UnSaintly hosted by Hamline on Saturday afternoon in St. Paul. Top Gustavus finishers at the meet included Janey Helland and Sam Broderius. Helland, winner the MIAC Heptathlon on Friday in Northfield, Minn., took first place in the long jump (5.36m), while Broderius won the shot put (12.71m) and took second in the discus (43.25m).

Janey Helland Wins MIAC Heptathlon

Gustavus Adolphus women’s outdoor track and field athlete Janey Helland scored a total of 4508 points to win the MIAC Heptathlon hosted by Carleton on Friday in Northfield, Minn. Teammate Kaelene Lundstrum, who led after day one, took second with 4457 points. Laura Secor finished eighth with 3560 points, while Becca Bryson placed tenth with 3455 points.

Gustavus Adolphus outdoor track and field athlete Kaelene Lundstrum is currently in first place with 2800 points after the first day of competition at the MIAC Heptathlon hosted Thursday afternoon by Carleton in Northfield, Minn. Teammate Janey Helland currently sits in second place with 2658 points, while Becca Bryson is also in the top ten in seventh with 2145 points. Laura Secor rounds out the Gustavus representatives in 14th place (1920 points).

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Competes At Drake Alternative

The Gustavus women’s outdoor track and field team registered 26 top five finishes at the Gustavus Adolphus College Drake Alternative Meet held in St. Peter, Minn. on Saturday afternoon. Janey Helland, Allyson Voss, Megan Lundgren, and Danielle Burgmeier all tallied first place finishes on the day. No team scores were kept at the meet.
