Valentine Named MIAC Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week

Ginger Valentine (Jr., Delano) led Gustavus to a spring season-opening shutout win over Saint Mary's on Sunday. Valentine won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1 singles and teamed with Simona Potockova at No. 1 doubles to win that match 8-1. For her performance, Valentine has been named MIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week. 

Valentine Wraps Up ITA Cup with a Victory

Ginger Valentine concluded play at the ITA Cup on Friday, defeating Nina Mitrofanova of Southwestern (Texas) 6-3, 2-6, 6-4. Valentine finishes the fall season 7-3 overall. 

Valentine Drops Two at ITA Cup

Gustavus women’s tennis singles ace Ginger Valentine dropped her first two matches Thursday at the ITA Cup. Valentine opened the day with a 6-4, 6-1 loss to No. 2 seed Serim Jin of Wesleyan (Conn.) and then lost 6-4, 6-4 to Miriam Gandham of Vassar in the consolation bracket.

Valentine Finishes Runner Up at ITA Regional Singles Championship

Ginger Valentine finished runner up at the ITA Midwest Regional Singles Championship on Sept. 23, losing 7-5, 6-4 to Grace Riermann of Bethel University in the championship match.

Women’s Tennis Suffers Two Defeats in California

The Gustavus women's tennis team traveled to California over Spring Break and competed in two matches. On Monday, the Gusties fell to Pomona-Pitzer 9-0 before falling to Redlands 6-3 on Tuesday. With the results the Gusties move to 11-10 overall.

Women’s Tennis Defeats MSU-Mankato Saturday

The Gustavus women's tennis team played host to MSU-Mankato on Saturday and defeated the Mavericks 7-0. With the win the Gusties moved to 10-8 on the season.
