Volleyball Hitters Propel Gustavus Past Carleton 3-0
For the second time in three games, the Gustavus Adolphus volleyball team hit over .300 to give the Gusties a 3-0 win (25-19, 25-20, 25-22) over Carleton College on Wednesday in St. Peter. Head coach Kari Eckheart's squad recorded 47 kills and 12 errors en route to a .340 hitting percentage. With the win, Gustavus moved into a tie for fourth place in the MIAC standings with Carleton at 4-2.
Women’s Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision At Carleton
The Gustavus women's soccer team traveled to Northfield, Minn. for a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match against the Knights of Carleton College. After a scoreless first half, Carleton was able to take the lead in the 71st minute from a goal by Nicky Bloom. Senior goalkeeper Ashley Ohlson made four saves for the Gusties in the loss. Gustavus falls to 2-5-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the MIAC, while Carleton moves to 5-4-0 overall and 3-2-0 in MIAC play.
Men’s Soccer Sees Five Match Winning Streak End With 2-0 Loss To Carleton
The Gustavus men's soccer team saw its five-match win streak come to a screeching halt with a 2-0 loss to Carleton in St. Peter on Saturday afternoon. The Knights got two first half goals from Paul Pedtke and then held on for the shutout victory. Gustavus falls to 6-2-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the MIAC, while Carleton improves to 9-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the MIAC.
Volleyball Sees Winning Streak Come To End Against North Dakota, Defeats Carleton
The Gustavus volleyball team saw its winning streak come to a halt on Saturday as the Gusties fell to undefeated University of North Dakota 3-1 (25-20, 16-25, 14-25, 16-25) in St. Peter. It did not take long for Gustavus get back on the winning track as the Gusties defeated MIAC rival Carleton 3-0 (25-19, 30-28, 25-22) in a non-conference contest later in the afternoon.
Gustavus Softball Pitchers Shutout Carleton In Doubleheader Sweep
Gustavus softball pitchers Betsie Collins and Erin Truebenbach held Carleton to four hits in two games as the Gusties defeated the Knights 3-0 and 16-0 in St. Peter on Sunday afternoon. Collins struck out 11 batters and gave up one hit in the top of the seventh inning for her fourth straight win in game one, while Truebenbach struck seven and allowed three hits in game two.
Baseball Sweeps Carleton, Extends Win Streak to Eight Games
The Gustavus baseball team scored 37 runs on their way to a doubleheader sweep of Carleton on Wednesday afternoon by the scores of 13-4 and 24-1. The Gusties pounded out 35 hits in the two games. Shea Roehrkasse led the hit parade with six hits in 10 at-bats. Derek Eddie was the winning pitcher in game one and Kraig Olson was the winner on the mound in game two. Gustavus is now 16-8 overall and 8-0 in the MIAC.
Men’s Tennis Defeats Carleton To Clinch 20th Consecutive MIAC Title
The Gustavus men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 win over nationally rated Carleton on Saturday in the Swanson Tennis Center at Gustavus. With the win, the Gusties completed MIAC regular season play with a 9-0 record and clinched their 20th consecutive league title.
Women’s Tennis Picks Up Wins Over Bethel, Carleton, and Minnesota State, Mankato On Saturday
The Gustavus women's tennis team had another full day of competition at Swanson Tennis Center on Saturday as the Gusties came away with wins against Bethel, Carleton, and Division II Minnesota State University, Mankato. Gustavus defeated the Royals and the Knights 9-0 and fought for a 5-4 victory over the Mavericks to improve its dual match record to 7-2.
Men’s Basketball Rallies To Claim 71-70 Win Over Carleton in Overtime, Will Face St. Thomas For MIAC Playoff Title on Saturday
The Gustavus men's basketball team claimed a thrilling 71-70 overtime win against Carleton in a MIAC Playoff Semifinal game at Gus Young Court in St. Peter on Thursday night. The Gusties rallied from six points down with :14 seconds left in regulation play to tie the score and send the game into overtime. Two free throws by the Gusties Andrew Doble with 1:19 left in the overtime proved to be the difference as Gustavus extended its season by claiming the 71-70 post-season victory.
Women’s Basketball Loses MIAC Finale 73-64 To Carleton
Four Carleton players reached double-figures as the Knights ended the Gustavus women's basketball team's five-game winning streak with a 73-64 victory in St. Peter on Saturday. The Gusties struggled offensively going 19-for-67 shooting 28.4 percent from the field. Both squads played aggressively and combined for 49 fouls. However, the Knights went 33-for-45 from the free throw line as they clinched the fourth-seed in the MIAC Post-Season Tournament with the win.
