Men’s Basketball Struggles To Score Down The Stretch, Falls to Carleton 74-66

The Gustavus men's basketball team was unable to hit the key shots down the stretch, while Zach Johnson knocked down several key shots for Carleton as the Knights slipped past the Gusties 74-66 on Gus Young Court in St. Peter, Minn. Andrew Doble led Gustavus with 12 points. Gustavus finished the regular season at 18-7 overall and 14-6 in the MIAC.

Women’s Basketball Will Finish Regular Season On Saturday Against Carleton

The Gustavus Adolphus women's basketball team enters Saturday afternoon's season finale with a 17-7 overall record and 16-5 record in the MIAC against the Carleton Knights, who are 15-9 overall and 14-7 in conference play. Gustavus, which has won five consecutive games, posted a 68-63 win over Hamline on Wednesday in St. Paul. Emily Nelson and Molly Mathiowetz came off the bench to score 11 points each in the victory.

Men’s Swimming Tops Carleton 175-124

The Gustavus men's swimming and diving team continued to compete well in 2008 with a 175-124 win over Carleton in Northfield on Saturday. The Golden Gusties won nine events and finished second in nine events as well. Of those events, Coach Carlson's squad claimed first and second place in five events, including the 200 butterfly, the 50 freeestyle, the 100 freestyle, the 200 backstroke, and the 200 IM. Connor Ziegler was the only multiple event winner, male or female, for Gustavus.

Women’s Swimming Falls In Dual Meet With Carleton 130-170

The Gustavus women's swimming and diving team dropped its final dual meet of the season in a 170-130 decision against Carleton in Northfield on Saturday. The Golden Gusties won four events and finished second in nine events, but that was not enough to overtake the Knights. Of those events, Coach Carlson's squad claimed first and second place in three events, including the 200 IM and the 1- and 3-meter diving.

Audio broadcasts, video broadcasts, and live stats will be available for both men's and women's basketball games tonight against Carleton in Northfield, Minn. The women's basketball game will tip-off at 5:45 pm with Matt Thomas announcing the play-by-play, while Tom Wheeler will be calling the play-by-play during the men's basketball game.

Women’s Basketball Wins 77-73 Overtime Thriller Against Carleton

Vicky Peterson made two free throws with :02.7 remaining in overtime to seal a 77-73 victory for the Gustavus women's basketball team over Carleton in Northfield. The Knights tied the thriller with :00.5 left in regulation on a Sarah Lincoln jumper, but were not able to score on key possessions down the stretch. Jess Vadnais scored a game-high 25 points as four Gustavus players finished with double-digits. Gustavus closed out the first round of the MIAC schedule with a 7-4 record and an 8-6 overall mark.

The Gustavus men's basketball team continued its winning ways with a 70-65 win at Carleton on Monday night. Senior wing Trevor Wittwer, who scored his 1,000th career point in the contest, led all scorers with 22 points. The Gusties improved to 12-3 overall and 8-2 in the MIAC.

Football Team Wraps Up 2007 Season with 37-14 Win Over Carleton

The Gustavus football team broke open a tight game with two third quarter defensive touchdowns and then added two more scores on its way to a convincing 37-14 win over Carleton at Lloyd Hollingsworth Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Gustie offense compiled 399 yards of total offense, while the defense forced three turnovers and limited the Knights to 255 yards of total offense. Gustavus finishes the season at 5-5 overall and 3-5 in the MIAC.

Football Team Set to Face Carleton on Senior Day

The Gustavus football team will wrap up its 2007 schedule with a home game against Carleton. The Gusties will play tribute to 13 seniors playing their final game at Lloyd Hollingsworth Field. Gustavus enters the game with a record of 4-5 overall and 2-5 in the MIAC, while Carleton enters with a mark of 3-6 overall and 1-6 in the MIAC.

Comeback Falls Short as Volleyball Loses To #24-Carleton 3-2

The Gustavus volleyball team fell short of upsetting #24-ranked Carleton losing 3-2 in Northfield Wednesday night. The Gusties came back from being down two games to one, but were unable to complete the comeback losing the fifth set. Jen Thelemann (Le Sueur, Minn.) paced the Gusties offensively with 17 kills. Thelemann also reached the 1,000-kill plateau at the end of the fourth game to become the 12th player in Gustavus history to accomplish this feat.
