Miller, Rice Named D3hoops.com All-West Region

D3hoops.com released its 2018 Women’s All-Region Teams on Tuesday morning and Gustavus student-athletes Mikayla Miller (Sr., Goodhue, Minn.) and Miranda Rice (Sr., Forest Lake, Minn.) received recognition. Miller was named to the five-player All-West Region Second Team for the second consecutive year, while Rice was named to the six-player Third Team.

Men’s Soccer Player Fraser Horton Named To NSCAA All-Region Team

Gustavus Adolphus College senior Fraser Horton (Missoula, Mont./Hellgate) was named National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-North Region Third Team on Tuesday. It is the third time that Horton has received All-Region honors in his four-year career at Gustavus. 13 players from the MIAC were honored, the most of any athletic conference in the region.

Joe Welch Named to D3football.com All-West Region First Team Defense

Gustavus Adolphus junior safety Joe Welch (Hastings, Minn.) is one of nineteen Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) football student-athletes to have been named to the 2008 D3football.com All-West Region Team. The nineteen chosen from the MIAC is more than any other conference in the region. Welch was selected to the First Team Defense.

Bridget Burtzel and Emily Klein Awarded All-Region Volleyball Honors

Gustavus volleyball players Bridget Burtzel (Cold Spring, Minn.) and Emily Klein (Red Wing, Minn.) were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region Team for the 2008 season. Both players earned all-conference honors, while Klein was also named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Year for the third consecutive season. Burtzel and Klein are now eligible for All-America honors.

Vadnais Named To D3hoops.com All-Region Team

D3hoops.com released its 2007-08 All-Region team and senior guard Jess Vadnais (Hudson, Wis.) was named to the West Region First Team for the second consecutive season. Vadnais was a key member of a Gustavus team that posted an 18-10 record and participated in the NCAA Tournament.

Tony Konicek Repeats on ABCA All-America First Team; Tabbed Region Player of the Year by Writers

For the second consecutive season, Gustavus Adolphus College third baseman Tony Konicek has been named to the NCAA Division III All-America First Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Konicek, who hit .452 with 10 home runs and 55 RBI, was also honored as the Midwest Region Position Player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Four Softball Players Recognized on NFCA All-Midwest Region Team

Gustavus Adolphus College softball players Julie Mahre, Joyce DeWitz, Rachael Click, and Emily Klein were named recently to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-Midwest Region Team as released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Mahre was a first-team selection, DeWitz and Click were named to the second team, and Klein was tabbed for the third team.

Tony Konicek, Mike DesLauriers Named All-Midwest Region by ABCA

Gustavus Adolphus College baseball players Tony Konicek and Mike DesLauriers have been named All-Midwest Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Konicek, a three-time All-MIAC selection and two-time MIAC Most Valuable Player, was named to the first team, while DesLauriers picked up third team honors.

Baseball Player Tony Konicek Named First Team All-Midwest Region by the ABCA

Gustavus Adolphus junior baseball player Tony Konicek has been named to the Rawlings/NCAA Division III All-Midwest Region First Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Konicek, a center fielder, also received the Max Molock Award as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Most Valuable Player after leading the league in a number of offensive categories.
