Women’s Soccer Wins in Season Opener

The Gustavus women’s soccer team opened its season on the road against Minnesota-Morris with a 4-1 win.

Updated Spectator Policy for Gustavus Athletic Spring Events

A limited number of fans will be permitted at some Gustavus home sporting events this spring, beginning Tuesday, March 23. The recently updated Gustavus Athletic Department spectator policy for home athletic events this spring applies to baseball, softball, men’s and women’s soccer games, as well as men’s and women’s tennis matches this spring. Spectators will not be allowed at volleyball games, football scrimmages, or track & field events.

MIAC Announces Plans for Spring Competition

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Presidents' Council approved plans to move forward with spring and postponed fall sports competition. Teams may officially begin competing again as early as March 5.

We have seen positive steps in the past eight years within the athletic department at Gustavus. With our athletic director hiring many female head coaches, encouraging us to hire female assistant coaches, and adding three female athletic trainers to a staff that previously was all males. We have female strength and conditioning coaches who are working with men’s sports and our nationally ranked men’s tennis program has a female coach on staff.

MIAC Postpones 2020 Fall Sports

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced Tuesday it will postpone fall 2020 competition in cross country, football, soccer, and volleyball due to the ongoing pandemic. The conference is working to develop spring schedules for those sports, which have been deemed at medium- or high-risk for coronavirus transmission by the NCAA.

MIAC Cancels 2020 Fall Non-Conference Contests

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced today that non-conference contests are cancelled for the 2020 fall sports season. More changes could be made in the future, as Presidents and Athletic Directors continue to explore opportunities for the fall.

Gustavus vs. St. Scholastica to Become MIAC Matchup in 2021

Big changes are coming to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference a year from now. The conference announced Wednesday the College of St. Scholastica has been accepted as a new member of the league, beginning the 2021-22 academic year.

Gustavus Summer Athletic Camps Cancelled

As the College’s leadership team considered requirements for social distancing and other Minnesota Department of Health recommendations and disease forecasts, it became clear that the College’s ability to host its usual high-quality, high-interaction summer camps and events in a safe manner would be greatly reduced.
