Women’s Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision At Carleton

The Gustavus women's soccer team traveled to Northfield, Minn. for a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match against the Knights of Carleton College. After a scoreless first half, Carleton was able to take the lead in the 71st minute from a goal by Nicky Bloom. Senior goalkeeper Ashley Ohlson made four saves for the Gusties in the loss. Gustavus falls to 2-5-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the MIAC, while Carleton moves to 5-4-0 overall and 3-2-0 in MIAC play.

Head Coach Mike Stehlik Earns 200th Career Victory As Women’s Soccer Blanks Cardinals 3-0

The Gustavus women's soccer team got its first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory of the season tonight in Winona, Minn as head coach Mike Stehlik earned his 200th career victory. The Gusties shutout the Cardinals from Saint Mary's University 3-0 behind two goals from senior Christy Tupy. Fellow senior Ashley Ohlson got the shutout win in goal for the Gusties. Gustavus improves to 2-4-2 (1-1-1 MIAC) on the season, while Saint Mary's falls to 3-4-1 overall and 0-4-0 in the MIAC.

Women’s Soccer Falls To Blazers 1-0

The Gustavus women's soccer team traveled to St. Joseph, Minn. for a MIAC conference match with the Blazers from the College of Saint Benedict. After 76 scoreless minutes, Tina Lisk put the Blazers on top for good with an unassisted goal. The Gusties finished the match with a 10-8 advantage in shots, but were unable to beat Saint Benedict goalkeeper Maija Schmelzer. Gustavus falls to 1-4-2 on the season and 0-1-1 in conference play, while the Blazers improve to 4-3-0 and 1-2-0 in the MIAC.

Gusties Lose 2-1 In Final Minutes Against UW-La Crosse

The Gustavus women's soccer team fell to UW-La Crosse 2-1 in a heartbreaking finish to end a three game home stand. Chelsea Craven tied the game at one late in the second half, but the Eagles were able to score the winning goal with under two minutes remaining in regulation. The Gusties outshot the Eagles by a 15-8 margin, but UW-La Crosse goalkeeper Amanda Clark kept them to only the one goal. Gustavus falls to 1-3-2 on the season after the non-conference loss.

Women’s Soccer Loses to Simpson 2-0

The Gustavus women's soccer team fell to Simpson 2-0 in a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon in St. Peter. Neither team was able to score a goal in the first half, but just nine minutes into the second half the Storm's Kellie Whitney beat Gustavus goalkeeper Chelsea Bayer for the 1-0 lead. Katherine Bird increased the Simpson lead to two with a goal in the 72nd minute.

Women’s Soccer Opens MIAC Play With 1-1 Draw Against Concordia

On a rainy afternoon in St. Peter, Minn., the Gustavus women's soccer team opened up its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a 1-1 (2 OT) draw against the Cobbers from Concordia-Moorhead. Junior forward Chelsea Craven opened the scoring for the Gusties early in the second half only to have Concordia's Maia Johnson tie the game 18 minutes later.

Gustie Women’s Soccer Battles Luther To 0-0 Tie In Two Overtimes

The Gustavus women's soccer team traveled to Decorah, Iowa for a non-conference match against the Luther Norse on Wednesday night. After 110 minutes of scoreless play, the game ended in a 0-0 draw. Gustavus senior goalkeeper Ashley Ohlson recorded her first shutout of the season making nine saves.

Gustavus Women’s Soccer Falls 3-1 at UW-Stevens Point

The Gustavus women's soccer team allowed two first half goals in a 3-1 loss at UW-Stevens Point on Friday afternoon. The loss marks the first defeat of the 2008 season for the Gusties. The Pointers controlled played for the majority of the match outshooting Gustavus 37-5. Sophomore forward Ashley Anderson scored the only goal for the Gusties in the 54th minute.

The Gustavus women's soccer team opened its 2008 season with a convincing 3-0 non-conference home win over the University of Minnesota at Morris. Chelsea Craven, Ashley Voigtlander, and Christy Tupy all scored for the Gusties, while Ashley Ohlson and Chelsey Bayer combined for the shutout in the nets.

Gustie Women’s Soccer Back on Campus for 2008

The Gustavus women's soccer team started preparing for its 2008 season yesterday (August 19) as 39 players reported for pre-season camp . Head Coach Mike Stehlik, who is beginning his 19th season, welcomes back eight starters and 22 letterwinners from a young squad that finished 8-10-0 last year.
