Tyler Geyen, Kaelene Lundstrum, and Diana Scott To Participate In NCAA Track and Field Championships
Senior Tyler Geyen, junior Kaelene Lundstrum, and junior Diana Scott have qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships which will take place this Friday and Saturday at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. Geyen qualified in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.59 seconds, while Scott qualified in the weight throw with a distance of 53 feet, 6 1/4 inches. Lundstrum qualified in the pentathlon with 3,445 points and the high jump at a height of 5 feet, 5 3/4 inches.
Relays Power Men’s Indoor Track and Field In Second Day of MIAC Championships, Finishes Eighth
The 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams garnered all-conference honors as the Gustavus men's indoor track and field team finished in eighth place with 50 points at the MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Concordia College. The 4x200 meter relay team consisting of of Tyler Geyen (Sr., Watertown, Minn.), Cole Carlson (Jr., Mora, Minn.), Matt Leeb (So., Kasota, Minn.), and Matt Dvorak (Fy., Burnsville, Minn.) captured second place with a time of 1:30.35.
Men’s Indoor Track And Field In Seventh Place After First Day Of MIAC Championships
The Gustavus men's indoor track and field team is currently in seventh place with 25 points after the first day of the MIAC Championships. Tyler Geyen (Sr., Watertown, Minn.) had a big day for the Gusties as he broke a 23-year old meet record and en route to winning the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.59 seconds. Geyen's mark also set a Gustavus record, which he set earlier this season. The meet, which is being held at Concordia College, concludes on Saturday afternoon.
Men’s Indoor Track and Field Set For MIAC Championships This Weekend
The Gustavus men's indoor track and field team will arrive at 2009 MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships with a veteran group that will be looking to improve on their seventh place finish a year ago. The meet begins with the heptathlon competition on Thursday and runs through Saturday afternoon. Concordia will serve as the hosts with the event taking place at the Olson Forum on the Concordia campus.
Men’s Indoor Track and Field Has Strong Showing At Pre-MIAC Meet
The Gustavus men's indoor track and field team turned in a solid performance at the Pre-MIAC Meet hosted by Macalester College on Friday in St. Paul. No team scores were kept at the six-team meet, which included Bethel, Carleton, Concordia, Hamline, Gustavus, and host Macalester. The competition was the final meet before the MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Concordia College next weekend in Moorhead, Minn.
Men’s Indoor Track and Field Finishes Third At Saint John’s Quad
The Gustavus men's indoor track and field team compiled 152 points as it earned third place at the Saint John's Quad on Saturday in Collegeville. The Gusties recorded six first place finishes and took second through fifth place in the 200 meter dash. Tyler Geyen (Sr., Watertown, Minn.) remained undefeated in the 55-meter hurdles as he set a new school record with a time of 7.63, which also was a NCAA provisional standard.
Men’s Indoor Track and Field Claims First Place At The Meet Of The Hearts
The Gustavus men's indoor track and field team claimed first place in seven events as the team finished first with 159 points at the Meet of the Hearts hosted by Carleton College. The Gusties finished 25.5 points ahead of fellow MIAC school, Hamline, which tallied 123.5 points. Other schools at the meet included Carleton, Luther, and Macalester, which tallied 121 points, 102.5 points, and 36 points, respectively.
Men’s Indoor Track and Field Competes At MSU Open
Members of the Gustavus men's indoor track and field team competed at the MSU Open hosted by Minnesota State University, Mankato on Saturday. Tyler Geyen (Sr., Watertown, Minn.) turned in the top individual performance by a Gustie as he won the 60 meter hurdles in 8.30 seconds for the second straight meet. Geyen also finished 12th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.23. No team scores were kept during the meet.
Track And Field Members Compete At Minnesota Open, Tyler Geyen Wins 60 Meter Hurdles
Three members of the Gustavus track and field team finished in the top five at the University of Minnesota Open featuring athletes from Division I, II, and III on Saturday in Minneapolis. Senior Tyler Geyen (Watertown, Watertown-Mayer) turned in the top performance finishing first in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.34 seconds, 0.07 seconds short of meeting a NCAA provisional qualifying standard.
Three Gustavus Track and Field Athletes Receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards
Gustavus track and field athletes Anna Bauer (So., Hastings, Minn.), Shanna Dawson (Sr., Fairmont, Minn.), and Chris deLaubenfels (Sr., Mount Vernon, Iowa) have been recognized recently by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on its 2008 Division III All-Academic Women's and Men's Track and Field teams. Twenty-eight MIAC student-athletes from four MIAC institutions helped comprise the list of 392 student-athletes that made up the team.
