Gustavus track and field athletes Anna Bauer (So., Hastings, Minn.), Shanna Dawson (Sr., Fairmont, Minn.), and Chris deLaubenfels (Sr., Mount Vernon, Iowa) have been recognized recently by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on its 2008 Division III All-Academic Women’s and Men’s Track and Field teams. Twenty-eight MIAC student-athletes from four MIAC institutions helped comprise the list of 392 student-athletes that made up the team.

Anna Bauer had a NCAA provisional qualifying performance of 50 feet, 4 1/2 inches in the weight throw at the Ted Nelson Classic during the indoor track and field season. Shanna Dawson was the 2008 MIAC Indoor and Outdoor Pole Vault Champion with NCAA provisional qualifying heights of 11 feet, 11 3/4 inches and 12 feet, respectively. Chris deLaubenfels turned in a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 14:52.14 in the 5000 meters at the 2008 MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, each student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.
