Swimming & Diving Back Home Friday For MIAC Dual Against Carleton

After spending the holiday break in Fort Myers, Fla. for their midseason training trip, the Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams are back home and set to host Carleton in a MIAC dual at 5 p.m. Friday. Both the men and women have started the season with victories in four different meets, including conference wins over Hamline, Saint Mary’s, and St. Olaf.

Tanner Sonnek Named MIAC Men’s Swimmer Of The Week

For the second time this season, Gustavus swimmer Tanner Sonnek (Jr., North Mankato, Minn.) has been named MIAC Swimmer of the Week after his impressive performance at Grinnell’s Pioneer Classic on Friday and Saturday. Sonnek helped the Gusties claim first place out of 11 teams at the Pioneer Classic, claiming the top spot in both the 100 IM (53.10) and 200 breaststroke (2:05.55). The Mankato West product was also a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:27.52).

Men’s Swimming & Diving Wins Grinnell Pioneer Classic

The Gustavus men’s swimming & diving team took first place out of 11 teams Saturday at the Pioneer Classic, hosted by Grinnell College. The Gusties accumulated 1381.5 points, nearly 200 points more than second place Grinnell. After racing out to a first place start in Session 1 Friday night, the Gusties won five of 15 events on Saturday and placed in the top-three in seven other events.

Men’s And Women’s Swimming & Diving Squads Sit In First Place After Session 1 At Pioneer Classic

The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams kicked off competition Friday at the Grinnell Pioneer Classic and both teams sit in first place after the first session. The Gustie men accumulated 523 points, ahead of second place Grinnell with 310 points, while the Gustie women posted 392 points, ahead of second place Grinnell with 286 points

Klug, Larson Named November Student-Athletes Of The Month

Cross country runner Sadie Klug (Sr., Waseca, Minn.) and swimmer Nolan Larson (Fy., West Des Moines, Iowa) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College November Female and Male Student-Athletes-of-the-Month, presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.

Swimming & Diving To Compete At Two-Day Grinnell Pioneer Classic

After nearly two weeks without competing, the Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams are set to participate in the Pioneer Classic, hosted by Grinnell College on Friday and Saturday. Session 1 starts at 6 p.m. tonight, Session 2 is 10 a.m. tomorrow, Session 3 diving is 2 p.m. tomorrow, and Session 4 is 5 p.m. tomorrow.

Nolan Larson Earns Second MIAC Swimmer Of The Week Honor

Gustavus first-year standout Nolan Larson (West Des Moines, Iowa) continued to impress Saturday at the Grace Goblirsch Memorial Invitational, hosted by Gustavus. Larson was a member of the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams, touching the wall in 1:40.83 and 1:28.31, respectively. Larson also won two individual races – the 500 freestyle in 4:57.28 and the 200 IM in 2:01.84.

Men’s Swimming & Diving Wins Grace Goblirsch Invite

The Gustavus men’s swimming and diving team hosted the fourth annual Grace Goblirsch Memorial Invitational on Saturday and came away with a convincing win. The Gusties accumulated 861 points for first place, while Morningside College took second with 497 points, edging Macalester with 480. Gustavus won eight individual events and three relays.

Swimming & Diving Hosts Fourth Annual Race For Grace Saturday

The Gustavus men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are set to host the fourth annual Grace Goblirsch Memorial Invitational on Saturday at the Vic Gustafson Pool. The Race For Grace honors former Gustie swimmer Grace Goblirsch who passed away on August 23, 2013 after fighting a courageous eight-month battle with acute myelogenous leukemia.

Sonnek Named MIAC Men’s Swimmer Of The Week

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Men’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week award this afternoon, with Gustavus junior Tanner Sonnek (North Mankato, Minn.) earning the weekly honor.
