Klug, Larson Named November Student-Athletes Of The Month Posted on December 1st, 2017 by

ST. PETER, Minn. – Cross country runner Sadie Klug (Sr., Waseca, Minn.) and swimmer Nolan Larson (Fy., West Des Moines, Iowa) have been selected as the Gustavus Adolphus College November Female and Male Student-Athletes-of-the-Month, presented by Thrivent Financial and voted on by the Gustavus Sports Information Department.

Cross Country

Hometown: Waseca, Minn.

High School: Waseca

Major: Nursing

Parents: Bill and Lisa Klug of Waseca, Minn.

Klug made the last collegiate cross country meet of her career count the most as she crossed the finish line at the NCAA Championships in 21:57.8 for 64th place, marking an all-time personal best. Klug’s time is the ninth best 6K finish in program history and she became one of two Gusties to run a sub-22:00 since women’s cross country began running 6,000 meters as the standard distance in 2002. The Waseca native qualified for the national meet after finishing 15th at the NCAA Central Region meet with a time of 22:26.5, earning All-Region honors.

Larson made his name well-known in the regional swimming community throughout the month of November, earning his second MIAC Athlete of the Week award as a versatile swimmer. In the past three meets, Larson has competed in 10 different events and 13 races, taking first place eight times and second place five times. The West Des Moines native tops the MIAC performance list in the 100 freestyle (47.78) and 200 butterfly (1:58.98). He also ranks second in the 200 freestyle (1:45.57), third in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.22), fourth in the 100 butterfly (52.48), and fifth in both the 500 freestyle (4:57.28) and 200 IM (2:01.84).
