Gustavus Set to Induct Nine New Members into Athletics Hall of Fame

The Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Athletics has chosen nine individuals for induction into its Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2021 inductees include Beth DeLaRosby ’05 (swimming & diving), Doug Espenson ’05 (basketball), Tara Houlihan Whiting ’06 (tennis/volleyball), Bobby Kroog ’06 (soccer), Audrey Lenoch ’06 (softball), Lyndsey Palen Crossley ’06 (tennis), Amanda Parker ’05 (gymnastics), Ben Sherer ’06 (baseball), and Tom Thorkelson ’70 (coach).

Schwartz Selected CoSIDA Academic All-District

Gustavus men’s soccer player Cole Schwartz (Sr., Jakarta, Indonesia) has been selected to the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, which was announced Thursday. Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Men’s Soccer Wraps Up Spring Season with Unblemished Record

The Gustavus men's soccer team wrapped up its truncated spring season with an unblemished record after defeating St. Olaf 3-1 in an exhibition on Wednesday. The Gusties went 2-0 in their official contests and 5-0 in exhibition matches.

After starting its spring season with four exhibitions victories, the Gustavus men’s soccer team played its first official match Saturday at Saint John’s and came away with a thrilling 2-1 victory. The Gusties broke a 1-1 tie in the 86th minute to secure the victory and hand the Johnnies their first loss of the season (2-1).

The Gustavus men's soccer team competed in a scrimmage at Augsburg on Friday and an 8-vs.-8 tournament at Saint John's on Saturday in preparation for its 2021 spring season. 

Updated Spectator Policy for Gustavus Athletic Spring Events

A limited number of fans will be permitted at some Gustavus home sporting events this spring, beginning Tuesday, March 23. The recently updated Gustavus Athletic Department spectator policy for home athletic events this spring applies to baseball, softball, men’s and women’s soccer games, as well as men’s and women’s tennis matches this spring. Spectators will not be allowed at volleyball games, football scrimmages, or track & field events.

MIAC Announces Plans for Spring Competition

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Presidents' Council approved plans to move forward with spring and postponed fall sports competition. Teams may officially begin competing again as early as March 5.
