ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Gustavus men’s soccer team completed an undefeated regular season and secured the MIAC’s No. 1 seed for playoffs with a 1-0 win at Macalester on Saturday. The No. 5-ranked Gusties improve to 13-0-4 overall and finish the league season 9-0-1.

After a scoreless first half, Owen Johnson (Jr., Apple Valley) found Alex Krumenaur (Jr., Otsego) for the match’s only goal in the 66th minute. Krumenauer’s sixth goal of the season went lower right into the net.

Wesley Sanders (Sr., Urbandale, Iowa) earned his 10th shutout of the season after making five saves. The Scots outshot the Gusties 12-10.

Gustavus has a first round bye for the MIAC playoffs and will host the lowest remaining seed at 2 p.m. Wednesday with a trip to the MIAC championship on the line.
