2023 Softball Season Preview

The Gustavus softball team kicks off its 2023 season this weekend, heading to Mankato for a series of opening games at the Minnesota State Dome. The Gusties will face Coe College tomorrow at 6 p.m., followed by UW-Eau Claire at 8:30 p.m. The Gusties are looking to build off last year’s season, finishing sixth in the conference with a MIAC record of 10-12 and an overall record of 15-22.

Gustavus Men’s Tennis Set to Host ITA DIII Men’s Team Indoor Championship

Gustavus Adolphus College is set to host this year's ITA Division III Men's Team Indoor Championship, welcoming some of the best talent in Division III to Saint Peter for the tournament with first serve to take place this Friday.

Women’s Basketball to Host Saint Benedict Friday in MIAC Semifinal

The Gustavus women's basketball team is set to host Saint Benedict at 7 p.m. Friday for a MIAC semifinal playoff matchup at Gus Young Court. As the league’s No. 1 seed, the Gusties earned a first round bye while the fourth-ranked Bennies captured a 73-55 win over No. 5 Bethel Tuesday night.

Nelson Named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week for Second Time

Birgen Nelson has been selected the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week after another record-setting performance at the USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. last Saturday, and broke another NCAA DIII record. Nelson improved her 60-hurdles time to 8.33 in the semifinals for fourth best in her heat, qualifying her for the finals. Nelson then ran an 8.42 in the finals, taking sixth in the nation. Nelson has now run the top-5 fastest 60-hurdles times in NCAA DIII history. This is the second time this season that Nelson has been named National Athlete of the Week, after previously earning the national honor following her first-record breaking effort. This marks the second time in program history that a Gustavus track & field athlete has received the National honor.

McCoy Named Women’s Hockey Player of the Week

Katie McCoy picked up her fourth Athlete of the Week honor of the season, the MIAC announced Monday afternoon. McCoy helped the Gusties to two more wins, making 22 saves between the two games, including a 10-save shutout in the Gusties' 1-0 win over MIAC Playoff-bound St. Olaf. With the shutout, McCoy now leads the NCAA with nine on the season, and shares the NCAA Division I and Division III lead amongst active goaltenders, male or female.

Men’s Tennis has Perfect Day Against Eau Claire, Saint Mary’s

Men's tennis had a perfect day in matches against UW-Eau Claire and conference opponent Saint Mary's Saturday morning and afternoon, rolling to a pair of 9-0 wins over both opponents. 

Holland’s Hat Trick Leads Gusties Past St. Olaf in Regular Season Finale

After scoring just one goal in Friday night's game against St. Olaf, the Gusties were led to a 6-1 victory by Hailey Holland, who picked up a hat trick in the Saturday rematch. With their win over St. Olaf, the Gusties improve to 22-3-0 and end the regular season with a conference record of 17-1-0. 

Women’s Hoops Finishes Regular Season with 75-51 Victory over Saint Mary’s

The Gustavus women's basketball team concluded its regular season Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 75-51 victory over the Cardinals of Saint Mary's. With the win, the Gusties improve their winning streak to 15, and finish the season with a conference record of 20-2.

Track & Field Puts Together Dominant Performance at Maverick Invitational

Gustavus track & field competed at the Minnesota State Maverick Invitational Friday, and collected quite a few impressive performances across the board.

Gusties Set Program Record High-Score in Win over UW-Stout

The Gustavus gymnastics team was in a record-setting mood on Friday night. Individually, the Gusties set a total of 10 new career-highs over the Blue Devils. As a team, the Gusties posted the program's highest ever team score of 187.675, beating out a 19-year-old record of 187.425 set at the NCGA Nationals in the 2003-04 season.
