The Gustavus men’s swimming team won its first competition of the season with 1,282 points over Luther (1,028) and St. John’s (539) at the Lund Natatoruim in St. Peter on Saturday. The Golden Gustie women’s swim team turned in its second consecutive victory with 1,289 points over St. Benedict (891) and Luther (764).

The Gustavus women’s hockey team moved to 2-0 in conference play completing a weekend sweep against Hamline with a 5-1 win at Don Roberts Ice Rink on the Gustavus campus. First year forward Allie Harwood led the Gustie attack with two goals, while Breana Scavo made nine saves and earned the win in the nets.

Gustavus senior Chris deLaubenfels completed his career with a 54th place finish at the 2007 NCAA Men’s Cross Country Championship which was run at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. on Saturday. deLaubenfels recorded a time of 25:28 over the 8,000 meter course which was 1:04 behind overall champion Tyler Sigl of University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
