Valentine to play for ITA Regional Singles Title Monday

Day three of the 2018 ITA Women’s Midwest Regional Championships concluded Sunday night with the doubles championship and the singles semifinals.

SAINT PETER, Minn. – Day three of the 2018 ITA Women’s Midwest Regional Championships concluded Sunday night with the doubles championship and the singles semifinals.

Maggie Riermann and Grace Riermann of Bethel won the doubles title with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 victory over Kristina Conrad and Madeline Prins of Carleton. Riermann and Riermann earn All-America status with their regional championship and advance to play in the ITA national tournament.

In singles play, Gustavus’s Ginger Valentine knocked off top-seeded Gabi Kitchell of UW-Whitewater 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 to advance to the title match. Valentine will face Ali Kopiecki of Hamline in the singles championship at 9 a.m. Monday. Kopiecki won her semifinal match over Grace Riermann 7-6, 7-5.

Midwest Region defending singles champion Bri Hartmann was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Grace Rierman 6-3, 6-4. Hartmann and doubles partner Lilly Hartman lost 8-4 in the semifinals to Rierman and Rierman.
